K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

I hesitate to even post this because I'm sure everyone else feels differently, but I'm REALLY getting irritated by both Dr. Mom, AND S-Mom. they are both so long-suffereing I'm about to gag.

I was just trying to work this one out.. "Juho is Jisu's brother and Shinae is Jisu's first cousin." Juho is Jisu's brother, through only their mother, And Shinae is Jisu's cousin through only her father, so technically they could be together, right? Juho is not related to the dead brother in any way except by marriage, and Sinae is not related to S-Mom in any way except by marriage.

I'm sure that's a taboo in many angles in the culture, but medically they could still be together. Or have I got this wrong?

I`m with you canvaswriter. S-Mom used to be in the Yu family and is now in the Han family. Her only connection now is as bio-mom to Jisu. The objection to the marriage and the kids relationship seems to be the that the two families, especially Jisu, would not be comfortable as in-laws. S-Mom was not responsible for the death of her husband or mother-inlaw

The conflict between these two families is tiring me out. This is not "tradition". I think this is pride, guilt, etc.

class blockquote K-actors' heights are almost always padded in their official profiles LOL, that can be said for actors world wide. emoticon Thanks for all the height info. class blockquote how can he "bar" Hyeonsu from getting a job ANYWHERE I think it was meant for the television industry. He seems to have enough influcence.

I found it interesting that the younger kids stood up for Suin by holding back their parents. Especially her Sister.

Hye should work for Suin's ex father in law who is in the same business (television) and Mr Han's main
competition.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

Last night's scene at Suin's with the tug of war with the parents seemed quite a bit different from what we usually see by filial children.

What's next? It won't surprise me if Hyeonsu ends up doing physical day labor somewhere, known in K-dramas as a 'construction job.' If, as dutiful children, Suin and Hyeonsu have turned over their paychecks to their mothers, they might not have much of a cushion on which to support themselves. I expect Mr. Han will cancel any credit cards he might have given to Suin since she came home from the States. But since Hyeonsu did that TV special on the plight of migrant workers, he has a lot of good contacts with men and families who would loyally help him out as much as they could.

Interesting that Sumi held back S-Mom while Juho was blocking his father as H&S were escaping. S-mom's portrayal was one of the more realistic scenes I've seen. She was really getting in there to take her daughter away from Hyeonsu and keep her at home.

Speaking of Juho, he seems to have gone through a growth spurt lately. He looks taller and his face is noticeably changing from very boyish to a more mature teenager.

nsheldon, thanks for giving us some blurbs on deleted scenes. It was obvious that some important stuff had been deleted. I guess Red Glasses and Jisu are still employed since they are with the modeling agency. Looks as though only Hyeonsu and Suin (and their co-workers) at Dreamers were turned out onto the street. I'll bet Hyeonsu's statement to Mr. Han that he very disappointed in him (for closing down Dreamers) will haunt Mr. Han. I understand that he's trying to cut both Hyeonsu and Suin off at the knees, but doing the same to other innocent workers is so unprofessional. A disappointment in Mr. Han's character, indeed.

The second best news recently was that Hyeonsu has changed the code to his apartment! No surprise visits from Dr. Mom! Of course, Suin will always admit Hyeonsu's mother, but at least she (or Auntie) can't just walk in as they did the other night.

Instead of criticizing the parents, let us criticize the writers and producers of this show. They have created a show with unlikable characters who behave poorly with little consideration for others. The writers particularly have little respect for the viewers whom they make think have little understnading when it comes to human behavior.

A fair point, pali...but, if you hate the show so much, why continue watching it? Don't mean to be a smart ass, but just saying.

The show is far from perfect & the writing a bit suspect, at times, but I still like the drama.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

There is a poijt which is bothing me so much .

It is about Awful Auntie....

Actually it seems to me that she is the one who is responsibl for everything bad that has happened to every one in the family.

1 She called her brother(now deceased) because she was in some kind of trouble ... money again? As a result he had a car accident caused because he thought it was a real emergency. So his then wife/widow was pushed out and the baby kept by the family. This is now the cause of all the problems at present regarding H and S marriage.

2 She is the one who insisted that the family come up with sixty thousand dollars (?) to buy a taxi so her husband could leave his busdriving job and not fall asleep at the wheel. Consequently the two Dr.parents mortgaged their house and took loans on the hospital. I am not sure if Minsu came up with some money also. Father sold his house and moved in with doctor parents in Seoul.

this Aunt is one devious person and also does not realise her own sins. She is poking her nose into everyone 's business and never happy if anyone else is happy. Too bad herhusband is rather meek or else he could order her to stay in her own backyard and look after him and daughter.

that's what I think.

Peg

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

I also doubt Suin's dad could bar Hyeonsu from getting a job in the same industry... I mean, Suin's ex husband came along and about run Suin's dad out of business so how could her dad have that much clout when he couldn't save his own butt?

I'm really sorry if some are not enjoying this drama but it's been better than a lot I've seen. I love all the couples (Hyeonsu/Suin; Jisu/Hiro; Juho/Shinae; and even Minsu/Miryeong)... It's not going to be 170 episodes so the length of the drama is just right.

And I totally agree that Aunt is a total troublemaker and instigator and the one that keeps the fire burning in both families. I wish someone would stick a sock in her mouth... Dr mom and Suin's mom ARE both willing to see their children suffer because of their own prejudices and old wounds. Each time they are confronted with someone being in love they have to take to their beds.. So, they should just go to bed and stay there!

I'm just running my mouth so please forgive me....

I'm very happy that, despite whatever it thrown at them, Hyeonsu and Suin are happily moving on. They are planning to start their own business and are planning their marriage. GOOD FOR THEM!!!

I really like this drama...
