By the way, did I get bounced off the receiving list? I have not been getting any of the latest posts.
I presume you are referring to email notifications when someone posts a new message? If so, this is a computerized process. Make sure that you have the "notification" feature turned "On." Go to the Add a reply screen (like you're creating a new post). Directly beneath the box where you write your text, there are two buttons: "Submit reply" and "Preview." Directly beneath those, you will see, "Get notifications when someone replies?" Make sure the little box is checked. If it is, you should be receiving email notices. If the box is not checked, you will not receive any email notices of new posts.

So glad Dr Mom made an effort.

Not sure if I could have sat through Minsu's lecture but I think he is just trying to help guide his siblings. Doubt that Jisu would listen to him anyway when it comes to Hiro. She's made up her mind, just like Hyeonsu did when they chose who they want to spend their lives with.

Aunt couldn't wait for that desk to get put in the room for Suin and Shinae...

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

Thanks nchristi.

Well, we all knew it. The sudden changes and everyone or almost everyone loving each other. Ah gees, I guess knowing what's to come in the sense of a 'happy' ending is what helps some of us get through the badly written parts of K-dramas. There should be a thread about the worst or most ridiculous situations we've seen in k-dramas, if one doesn't already exist.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

While Minsu sincerely cares about his family members, I think he also is just looking for a place to get some respect. So he lords it over his younger brother and sister. Minsu has had a lifetime of 'doing everything wrong,' in his father's eyes—a father who unloaded his own frustrations on his son, just as he received from his father, too.

It was nice to see Hyeonsu right on the money about Suin and how she is rushing things with Dr. Mom. All during this drama, Suin has been the one who 'knows better' (or thinks she does) and Hyeonsu is kind of dismissed while Suin does it her way.

But not this time. I really enjoyed the scene between Suin and Dr. Mom, when Suin brought the soup into the bedroom and apologized to Dr. Mom. Both of them understood the other from a new perspective, even though Dr. Mom remained silent. It touched my heart that it was Dr. Mom who had gone out and purchased a new writing desk for Suin. Even though Dr. Mom still feels emotionally bruised and worn out, her action of such a gift and consideration to her new DIL was truly heartwarming.

How perfect that Suin is tutoring Shinae! There can be a continuing link between Juho and Shinae, even if they grow apart in a natural sort of way and go in different directions. At least, they can hear of one another through Suin and not simply have been ripped apart and isolated the way they were initially.

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

Just seven more episodes! So far so good. Starting in September, KBS World will have these episodes with english subtitles; right now they are only in Korean and each episode is 40 minutes long. Since we know the characters, we can figure out what is happening. They sure cut a lot out. nchristi: is it all right if I tell this?

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

I'm not new, but I'm under a new name. I used to be Catsister, but I have a new e-mail account and server.

Anyway--some questions and observations. Forgive me if they have been discussed, I didn't have time to look thru 65 pages.
1. Gramps' girlfriend. Where is she? She's the #2 person on the credits, but I haven't seen her in months. Did the actress get sick/mad over contract and quit? Or is this so poorly written, they just didn't know what do do with her? If it was explained in the show, I missed it.

2. If Hyeonsu and Suin dated several years ago, why didn't the families meet then? Weird. It sounded like it was serious, but the parents never met, not even for some soju?

3. Hiro had a Korean relative he was looking for, whom I believe would have turned out to be Gramps' girlfriend. Was this ever resolved, or was it just completely dropped? Hiro is the vaguest character I've seen on one of these shows. He's a nice guy, but we know nothing about him. It's like all his storylines were dropped, and he's just a himbo with longish hair.

4. The miscarriage/first marriage has no bearings on any of the future events. If the doctors hate Suin mostly because they want nothing to do with her family, and not because she's a divorcee, why were we put through that torture? And why was Suin? She tried so hard to save that baby, and the whole thing was for nothing, plotwise.

5. Did the ex-husband go through one of those "straight camps" in the Bible belt? He had a completely different sexual orientation when he arrived then we were led to believe. He was a great character, too, if not a lovable one. They should have kept him around for a villain.

6. Also not amounting to much was the coma/amnesia, or the insurance fraud. Both potentially interesting problems settled very quickly.

I hate to be so negative, but this is only a little better than You are My Destiny. I do like, however, that Sumi isn't completely evil and that Suin has short hair. I also like that it has a theme about parents and children. I'm glad to see that it's ending in CA soon. We're up to the wedding in NJ.

I think we're in a K-drama slump. Hope the next one is good!

4.

I've very glad to hear you will be seeing this with e-subs in your area of the country! I personally do not subscribe to KBS World, but I believe they've been showing it all along here in the SoCal area with e-subs.

There is certainly nothing inappropriate in mentioning this in your post. The only thing I might suggest to avoid confusion is that the area be mentioned so that other readers are clear this is not referring to our SoCal KBS World programming schedule. Also, the original and uncut length of each episode varies from 33–35 minutes. And, yes, quite a bit is edited out of our KXLA episodes.

Glad to see you still with us, Catsister/Poodlepal! (A pet by any other name is still a ...). A few comments on your questions:

1) Gramps' girlfriend. class ul I haven't read anything about the actress, but she does have a lot of roles in other projects. Ever since Gramps moved into the city, she has all but disappeared, though I think she reappeared maybe once or so. I expect we might see her again at the very end.2) Hyeonsu and Suin's parents meeting class ul It is customary that the parents do not meet until they formally get together to discuss the wedding date—usually in a private room at a restaurant or hotel. Nor do they usually meet their son or daughter's prospective mate until it is very serious. (Nor do parents meet their children's friends, so they would not have meet either Suin nor Hyeonsu during their college days.) It is different from American custom where parents want to immediately meet the guy/girl being dated, their family, etc. After the wedding takes place, it is also customary that the in-laws do not socialize together very much. That's one of the reasons Dr. Mom was having problems with her new DIL going back to her parents' socially too often.3) Hiro class ul Nope, don't know anything more about his story—unless it was edited out and I missed it. But Jisu is the focus, not Hiro, so I don't find it unusual if we don't learn more about him. There's only so much time for each character and he is important only to Jisu, not the bigger family picture in general. I have no comment on the other questions. My experience and observation is that most of us are enamored of the Daily Dramas in the beginning of our personal experience with them. As we get more and more of them under our belts we find them repetitive and boring, with many short-lived diversions to keep the audience tuning in, then just as quickly dropping or altering certain story lines. It takes a truly exceptional Daily Drama to re-ignite our interest and passion for it—and those are few and far between.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)

Well another surprise ... Dr Mom didn't seem that horrified about Jisu/Hiro. Of course she disapproves and will want them to break up but she sees how determined Jisu is and Dr Mom just doesn't seem that mortified by their relationship. Maybe she's becoming numb to her children making their own decisions.

OMG I felt so sorry for Juho and Shinae. When they saw each other outside the building they played that sad music and the kids were staring at each other.. made me cry... Aunt started to be nice until Shinae showed up. Oh well...

I also wondered why they didn't have more of Gramps' friend. It seemed in the beginning that the friend always loved Gramps but lost him to the woman he ended up marrying. I suppose they just settled into a very close friendship... but they've left her in the country now... Hopefully she will return.

The actress p;aying Gramp's friend is also in a couple more dramas. I thinkl she is in Brilliant Legacy ?? and there is one other that eludes me. She is in demand for older character parts.

I am still hoping that Hiro is the son of a very important family with great connections. They probably didn't want him to be a model but he insisted. If only this was going on much longer then his parents would object to the marriage and that would be a slap in the face for Dr. Mom.

However, I do hope it works out for Hiro and Jisu. I think he is rather charming even tho the role is not very intense in the drama.

I like Sumi. she is the only one who tells it like it is.

Didn't Hiro say he was raised by someone other than his parents? Didn't his bio mom die? I'm too lazy to go back and check posts..

I ended up kinda liking Sumi too. Most of the time I thought she should have used her brain before she spoke but ..... I got over my dislike of her when I knew she had no chance with Hiro..

I was reading that Suin (Jang Sin Yeong) is married and has a 3 yr old son. She was born in Jan 84..
