Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
Gee, that was a fast hour. Well, he'll take the tutoring job--his sister is going to need the money. What is wrong with her? Her legs are weak, but she also gets dizzy.
So now we know that Chulsu was not the boy she knew as a child. I guess Chulsu's mother left him with her friends, the "aunts" he and his sister now live with.

Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
Episode 5 - Deleted Scenes
While Mari and Chulsu are in the art gallery, Reporter is in CS's room. He has laid out the "Bag Dude's" clothes, is going through photos of Bag Dude, going through Asuka's Lovers for all the classic book references, then pulling them out of CS's book shelves and throwing them on the floor. He flashes back to all his conversations with CS, the bits and pieces of memories on ghostwriting, CS, Mari. Reporter has connected the dots. He is FURIOUS that Chulsu, his best friend, has kept this secret from him. Even worse, he is furious that Chulsu stayed with Lee Mari in Japan. Chulsu, YOU BAST**D! he screams at the top of his lungs. [Later, CS comes home and finds Reporter on his bed, the room littered with books all over the floor...]
At home, Lee Mari sits on her sofa staring at the two large stacks of 29 books that Jangsoo has purchased at her request. At the same time, CS is at home washing up his dishes. His phone rings. LM is calling. Her text message: Which book? CS ignores her message. LM decides to start with Pride and Prejudice. After a series of text messages from LM, they agree to leave each other alone.
Manager Suh decides to cut off Lee Mari. He tells Jangsoo not to go to her place anymore, rather give his attention instead to his own budding career as an actor. Jangsoo says he can't leave Lee Mari.
Reporter becomes more and more agitated, wanting to hurt both Chulsu and Lee Mari for his perceived betrayal. He ponders what he should do to get revenge. In the meantime, he decides to live off of Chulsu, but is determined to have his revenge by writing an exposé. His editor has tickets to the Lee Mari movie and appearance. Reporter insists he will cover it and takes the tickets. [He calls Chulsu and drags him to the movie theater....]
After the scene of Yuri at home feeling pain in her leg, the scene cuts to the two aunties talking in their room. Boyoung (CS and Yuri's mother) has returned to Korea and is now a famous singer. She is appearing at a hotel. They argue about whether or not to tell Yuri and Chulsu about their mother's return from America, deciding not to. There is a crash outside the door. It is Yuri dropping a tray, having heard what they said. She is shocked but wants to see her mother, who left when Yuri was an infant on Chulsu's back. The scene then cuts to the mother performing in the hotel. She has gone beyond her female lounge lizard days and looks to be a high class performer now.
After Lee Mari's Q&A session at the theater meeting in which Chulsu saves her bacon, as LM is leaving the building, Reporter is dragging CS along. They are then stopped at a point where the guards will not let them follow. Seeing his chance to get revenge by exposing LM and CS, he yells out very loudly that he knows her secret and won't let her get away with it. Everybody stops and looks at him. But the hand Reporter is holding is no longer CS's but that of a woman fan, who now says Reporter is crazy! CS has disappeared by now. LM doesn't see him and everybody just dismisses Reporter as a nut. This exposé attempt has failed.

Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
Enjoyed last night's episode--the two of them play well together. I think the bits with the sister and the wandering mother must have been cut. And the first bit I really didn't like--typical Kdrama action--the friend leaving the camera on his desk at work. No way. Well, Chulsu is going to be in a world of trouble very soon. She can handle it, I think, but he has no clue about cutthroat publicity.

Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
I've been looking for some e-subs or summaries for Episode 6, but no luck. I'm going to watch an unsubbed complete episode later today and will have to make my 'deleted scenes' a guestimate. That's the best I can do this week since there just aren't any better resources available.
In the meantime, here's a nice pic of some of Choi Ji Woo's costumes for the drama. By the end of 20 episodes, they estimate she will have had 200 costumes—the most ever used in a drama. Personally, I enjoy looking at beauty, consequently am appreciating how they've dressed her for this role.
In last night's episode, I really enjoyed how Lee Mari was playfully 'blackmailing' Chulsu into letting her stay at his place. It was sweet, because she really likes him and is enjoying his innocence. Nothing really devious or scheming in an ugly way for a change in dramas. Very cute interaction/interplay between the two. He actually has plenty of power over her because she wants and needs his attention and approval. The power she is feeling and using is a woman's ability to do what Lee Mari is doing to Chulsu. It's a fair trade-off, especially when both characters really do like the other underneath all the surface denial.
Edit: Almost forgot about the cousin who now has bet Skeet that he can successfully woo Lee Mari, ending up with a ring on her finger. Yikes. Another creep. Like poor Lee Mari hasn't had enough of being the pawn in others' games? We've got a long ways to go in this one, so I suppose both Chulsu and Mari will head down different romantic paths for a while. I hope they end up heading back toward each other eventually, though.
I also must say that the actor who played Lee Mari's disappearing fiancée and Skeet's cousin look like the same guy to me. I've gone back and taken note of the features we've seen in Mystery Man. His chin, mouth and nose look very similar to the present guy. They always had MM with his back to us, or a limited side view, or his hair hanging down and covering his eyes, so it's hard to tell. I'm just awfully suspicious of this. The only thing that makes me think it isn't supposed to be the same person (though it may be the same actor doing double duty) is that Lee Mari would recognize her former lover. Hmmm....

K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
I do think that woo jin (the executive or rather heir to some art and culture company) although he was betting with his cousin, does have deep affection for Lee Mari. But he also appears to be very competitive. I suppose this "bet" will come back to bite him some day.

Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
I'm sure Woo jin is the boy at Lee Mari's grandmother's (the star ornament). I think he was betting with Playboy because he knows something that Playboy doesn't, that he knew Lee Mari years ago. That doesn't make it any more palatable to me, but I agree with curly carrot, that he has a lot of affection for her. He told her he'd watched her career for a long time.
I agree, nchristi, Lee Mari was very sweet in many of last night's scenes, very playful, and Chulsu certainly responded.
As a side observation, have you noticed that all the photos in Lee Mari's apartment are photos of her? I can certainly understand all the photos in public (money) and all the photos in Pres Seo's office (money). But only photos of herself where she lives? She's either narcissistic or Pres Seo decorated her place, which looks like a clone of Seo's office. Or perhaps she has the photos because she's had to depend on herself for many years, and doesn't want to remember anything else.
The little girl, with those huge, ugly glasses pulls at my heartstrings every time she's on screen.

Re: K-Drama: 스타의 연인 (Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover)
Episode 6 - Deleted Scenes
They cut out some little snippets of conversation from the opening scene. For example, on the rooftop, Chulsu doesn‛t just take off his coat and give it to Mari. She wants to go inside, he won‛t let her, so she chides him saying that the least he could do is give her his coat. At the remark, he takes it off and puts it around her shoulders. This is a big deal since she previously told Woojin she doesn‛t wear other people‛s clothes when he tried to give her his coat when she was freezing. Not only did she put on CS‛s coat, but she basically asked him for it.
There are additional scenes of the Aunties fretting over the ‛woman‛ Chulsu has up in his room after they see the mystery woman on the rooftop. They argue about whether it is Eun-yung or an "affair." They decide to get the keys but CS then comes downstairs to leave, telling them his research ‛friend‛ is still upstairs studying and not to bother him. One Auntie asks if EY is still in Japan and CS says ‛yes.‛ They all become silent now that they definitely know he‛s lying. He leaves. One Auntie wants to go upstairs and ‛beat her up.‛
As CS is walking away outside, he realizes his aunties are suspicious so he calls his landline number in his room. Lee Mari picks up and answers. CS is upset that she answered: I told you not to answer the phone! I forgot, she replies. He tells her to lock the doors. Okay, she will. But then she wants to know if she has some questions about the book she‛s reading, may she text him? Irritated, he says ‛yes,‛ but now that she‛s brought it up he aks why she can‛t learn to send text messages properly. What, you didn‛t get them? she asks. "Yes, but I can‛t read them with all the smileys! Please leave out all the cutsey stuff. (he talks in babytalk) And leave out the run-on sentences. I can‛t stand that!" She answers him back in babytalk: "Pweeze come home early. I‛ll be making dinner and be waiting for you~okkie?" This really annoys CS... "Can we please stop the newlywed act? It‛s CREEPY." CS hangs up while Mari is enjoying the situation.
Just then the bodyguard comes running up to him. He has the hunch that Mari is at his place. class ul BG: By chance, did you see Mari nuna? (CS is caught and isn‛t a good liar) I came together with Mgr. Suh. Last time, I didn‛t tell him you were at the final showing of her movie, okay? (letting CS know he's on his side) (They go to Suh‛s car, CS gets in the back with Mgr. Suh)
MS: I thought you would come and find me. I was amazed that you didn‛t.
CS: Why do I have to go looking for you?
MS: Well, the book you‛ve written is doing so well, and you didn‛t even even have the slightest thought? (CS dislikes Suh and doesn‛t answer) But anyways, I‛m thankful. Thanks to you, Mari‛s image has gotten better. Mari has been living really happy these days. (CS reacts to that and Suh notices) What?
CS: Well, I thought she wouldn‛t be happy.
MS: Yes, we‛re happy thanks to you. (he pulls money envelope out of his pocket and dumps it in CS‛s lap, condescendingly...) It‛s nothing much. In fact, ghostwriting is very dangerous. In truth, for both you and Mari. You as being a writer and a college professor. Without even thinking of the risk you‛re taking... really, thanks for writing the book. (CS recognizes the veiled threat) If there was even the slightest chance of word getting out, your future would disappear, hmm?
CS: Is this a threat?
MS: No, let‛s say this is advice.
CS: Oh, it is, eh? Well, I‛m not taking your advice. (he picks up the money) Oh, and this I will also not be taking. (CS crumples the envelope full of money like you‛d crush an empty beer can in your hand... then throws it in MS‛s lap) Good-bye. (gets out of car)
MS: Don‛t take it badly, let‛s have drinks sometime, huh? (MS throws the envelope out the car window onto the pavement and rolls up the window. They drive off. CS stands there looking at the envelope. He laughs at himself, his foolishness of getting into this situation)Chulsu bursts loudly into his rooftop apartment. Mari, not knowing who it is, quickly tries to run into the bedroom, then sees it is CS... class ul LM: Oh, you scared me. Why did you come home so early? (he hands her the envelope and she looks at the return address logo)
CS: Leave.
LM: By chance, did Mgr. Suh come here?
CS: GET OUT OF HERE! (he sees the pain in her eyes) I have thought wrongly, yeah. I shouldn‛t have gotten into this in the first place.
LM: Uhh... Chulsu-shi...
CS: How can you guys be so alike? Mgr. Suh and you Mari, don‛t you care about other‛s feelings? Do you just use them whenever you feel like it? YOU JUST COME BARGING INTO OTHERS‛ LIVES AND STIR THEM UP!!! Just because in your head, you only think about yourself... you come up with ghostwriting a book and bother me!?!?
LM: (calmly) How come you always only yell at me? If your pride gets hurt, why do you come and yell at ME and NOT AT THE PERSON WHO HURT YOU? Am I the person who took out the envelope of money?? What is it that bothers you about me? Is it that you want to run away, but I asked you for help? Ah... you told me that running away is your specialty. Like when your girlfriend had better qualities than you, you ran away. You want to write a novel, but it‛s too hard for you, so you ran away from that. And now, you wrote a book, and now just by saying that it‛s not your responsibility, you run away from it, too. (tears in her eyes) Yeah, go ahead and run away. This time I‛ll step aside for you. (she turns to leave, CS grabs her wrist)
CS: You‛re right. I took it out on the wrong person. I‛m sorry... (they stare in each other‛s eyes)At the university, students are staring at a notice on the classroom door...
"Understanding of Contemporary Literature... POSTPONED" Chulsu is spending the day at home tutoring Lee Mari, cooking for her, getting close to her. EY calls from Japan about Christmas...
(Nothing was cut from the Yuri and bio-mom scenes.)
