Last night was the last episode here in LA. I think it ended around episode 39 or 40, but for some reason I thought there were going to be about 50 episodes.

Welcome, beckyroonie! And thanks for the info.

I haven't followed this drama very closely and was caught off guard that it actually ended last night! It was originally slated to be 50 episodes but was cut to 39. The consensus from those in the know seems to be that the ratings were too low all on their own, but SBS was also waiting to see how their main competition (MBC) would do with Queen Seon-deok. Unfortunately for our Princess, Queen Seon-deok blew them out of the water with 30% share to Ja Myung's 7% of viewers.

The new drama will be Dream, the Korean version of Jerry Maguire. I haven't made a new front page for it yet, but will get to it as soon as I can. Dream begins on Monday, September 7 at 9:45p.

nchristie...How did The Iron Empress do? I liked Queen, but it was difficult watching it on the small digital screen.

What is everyone watching now?

Until just this past week, I had very little choice in what I could watch. So, I'd drop by on this one. It sure wasn't very good, except Princess Lahee was sure pretty! LOL Glad it's over.

Thanks for the welcome, nchristi! I've been following the message board for several years, ever since my friend talked me into watching "My Sweetheart, My Darling" and "Jewel in the Palace". Thanks for all of the effort and work you"ve put into these topics.

Re: K-Drama: 왕녀 자명고 (Princess Ja Myung Go)

What? You didn't like Puku-Hodong kabob? LOL!

What a silly ending. But I must say that the very first thing that made me worry about this drama was the running interview with the producer/director in the Special before episode 1. The things he said, and the way he talked about the production left me thinking we might be dealing with a deck short of a few cards. I never changed my mind during the watching of this entire drama. There were some interesting, even spectacular things (including costuming), but I found it all undermined by a rather 'sicko' type handling of many scenes and events.

There were several general criticisms of this drama by critics and viewers. First, it was felt the 'child actor' portion in the beginning ran way too many weeks before the more popular adult actors appeared. This lost a sizable portion of viewers. Unfortunately, when the main, more attractive big names appeared it was too late for the audience to get 'hooked.' Queen Seon-deok had come along and permanently taken a large portion of what would have been Princess Ja Myung-go's viewers. QSD had bigger names, a much better story and script—overall a higher quality production in every way.

To make things worse, it wasn't until going down the backstretch that the producers decided to cut their losses by pulling the plug at 39 episodes rather than the originally planned 50 episodes. As a result, we suffered through all the prolonged and rather meaningless stuff at the beginning and middle, then saw all the more exciting concluding parts crammed together and quickly re-written into a condensed, unsatisfying ending.

Speaking of the ending, what made it even sillier was that it would have been physically impossible for Hodong to place his sword where he did in that final event. With his sword as long as it was, he would have had to have the wingspan of a 7- or 8-foot tall man to even approach such an angle. I remember chuckling during that scene. I think it takes the cake for the all-time corniest scene of ill-fated lovers forever launching their love into eternity.

Mercifully for us, this one has finally gone to the Great K-Drama Repository in the Sky where it can live happily ever after...

Oh, nchristi, you took the words right out ofmy mouth!!! The puku-hodong kabob scene left me giggling out loud!!! I was already having a little giggle seeing everyone getting killed off in such short order, but then the impossible long reach of hodong, did me in!! I kept the snapshot for awhile, tho, just for a good laugh now and then!
