K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
I agree about Eunji being a very enjoyable actress to watch, but I am disappointed they got married so quickly. She is still very young and even though S behaves as if they were the same age, he is at least 10 years older. I am not saying, I think the age difference is that important, but she really has not experienced much in the romance department plus he acts so immaturely.

Eunji is 25 -- somewhat younger than the Korean average at marriage (which is 28-29), but not too young. One has to wonder about her upbringing -- her aunt/mother must certainly have sheltered her. But on the other hand, she is an actress and has lived in that world since she was a child actress -- so how innocent and naive can she be? She may have seen it all -- but she has not yet done it all -- and personal experience has a way of teaching and maturing all its own. At least from now on when Soenpung and Eunji hug one of them won't be frozen with surprise!!

K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
Hello everyone,
Just a quick shoutout to nchristi , creiseida and all contributors whose recaps and comments have made me laugh and shed a tear or two when describing episodes I had watched, but that at the time did not find as funny or touching. The wedding episode was great. I am not a sucker for weddings, but this one made me shed a few tears. The flashback pics were just great and contributed to the mood, and the singing by the four brothers was also great. I got a big laugh out of Seonpung singing the Superjunior's hit song "Sorry, Sorry" when he was done telling his brothers all that his mothers-in-law had bought for him.
I absolutely adore Lee Pilmo. His facial expressions are priceless. His character maybe childish, but I believe it is a little more complex. He has shown maturity in various instances and I don't blame him for not liking Boksil. I understand that she is head over heels for Daepung, but to the point of being a doormat? Daepung likes Junjin because she is assertive and smart. As for the rest of the family, they do not even consider her as a possible in-law because she is only a nurse (which socially/academically is less than a lawyer or a doctor) and see her as a little more than help.
This drama is moving fast, not dragging as many others, and it's almost half way through. I hope it continues being this good. None of the other dramas I am watching compares to this one. Any recommendations?

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
I'm sure Daepung planned the interlude to the island in order to woo Sujin; but it looks like it's backfiring on him. Statements like just "do as I say" doesn't sit well with an independent woman like Sujin. Also, his narcissism is showing too much. If anything he's pushing Sujin towards Jinpung by pointing out his "faults". E.g. "Jinpung always just wants to help people".
Can't blame Daepung's attitude towards Boksil... How can you think someone worthy if they don't think so themselves?
Eunji/Seonpung is winding down, Sujin/Jinpung/Daepung is moving to the forefront and Miran is building up. They're doing a good job of pacing this drama. And there's no characters to truly dislike (well maybe Hana's mom somewhat).
Liking this drama.

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
Your comments have made me stop and think about Boksil in a different light. Rather than a doormat, she's very strong, or she wouldn't be able to take all the baloney Daepung dishes out. But does she really do anything outside of cooking/cleaning/nursing to personally please him? It seems to me that she is set like concrete in her own ways and doesn't comply with DP, when you think about it. She simply seems determined to become part of the family as his wife through osmosis—she does everything a DIL would do. She tenaciously acts the part of a longsuffering wife, putting up with DP's baloney no matter how far he strays or how demanding he is. In her mind she's being a faithful 'wife.' It takes an awful lot for her to recognize the reality of her relationship with DP. If it weren't for Miran frequently hitting her over the head with a reality sledgehammer, Boksil would be totally immersed in her tiny little DP wife world. She reminds me of a pit bull who has sunk her teeth into the prey and, no matter what, will not let go.
All that being said, I can hardly stand watching Boksil on the screen! LOL! I find her completely disgusting and don't have any sympathy at all for her regarding DP. If ever there was a walking invitation to being abused, it is Boksil. I hope the writer starts pointing her in a new direction because this one has become very old and has reached the huge turnoff stage. The audience can take only so much of certain things. It's time for Boksil's storyline to venture down another path.
I think some scenes of Hana's mom might have been cut out tonight. She is working at a convenience store and gets into it with three guys who make a mess while eating then walk away, telling her to clean it up. The owner has had it with her attitude and fires her for driving away customers—apparently this isn't the first time. She goes to the riverbank, is crying, calls Mipung, learns Hana has been sick, Mipung took Hana to the hospital, etc. MP hangs up on her and that's when she shows up outside MP's family home.

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
I agree with everything you said about Boksil's loneliness and lack of family, nsheldon. I think those are huge contributors to 'where she's at' emotionally/psychologically right now.
Someone also questioned how could she turn from an outgoing cheerleader, honor student type in the States to what we see her as now. That made me think about how it might be possible. The main factor would be her moving back to Korea—a society that traditionally doesn't accept anyone outside of their family blood lines, especially a woman. Boksil would be completely alone with no family support or connections. That also makes her a young woman who lacks the right "conditions" for marriage. So, it seems natural that she would attach herself to DP's family—who eagerly accept her free labor, cooking, and general slave status. Eventually, Boksil would lose her sense of self, her independence, and all the sense of accomplishment she had built up within herself in the States.
Well, whatever. Her situation and pitiful, pathetic behavior has reached a limit with me, too. She's such a turnoff that she deserves whatever she gets from Daepung. I can't even blame him. I don't like his personality, but I can't blame him for the way he treats Boksil. She not only allows it, but by her actions she actually encourages and invites him to take advantage of her and to release all his frustrations upon her because he can't handle accepting responsibility for himself.
Well, he's another one. There are reasons DP is the obnoxious, insensitive, rude, self-centered, self-seeking person he is. I just wish the drama could move on past these behaviors a little faster. I'm sick and tired of watching both Daepung and Boksil in action.
Oh, another scene referred to but edited out from KXLA was after DP and Boksil left the campsite to get gas for the stove. At the campfire, Sujin wants Jinpung to play the guitar and sing. He doesn't want to, but Sujin is persistent. He tells her he can only play a children's song. He proceeds to play it—it's cute and he does a decent job. Then he almost unconsciously slips into playing and singing his special song with Hyerim... Try to remember the kind of September / When life was slow and oh, so mellow. / Try to remember the kind of September / When grass was green and grain was yellow... Sujin sees Jinpung is in great pain and makes the connection with her deceased sister-in-law. She then asks JP about his feelings for Hyerim.
