K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
Tonight's last scene between Sujin and Jinpung sitting on a bench together cracked me up. It's just one more piece of evidence that leads us to believe that Sujin and Jinpung will end up together. First, Sujin asks what kind of qualities Jinpung looks for in a woman. Then she sees that one of his shirt buttons is about to come off, so she breaks out her little sewing kit and starts working on Jinpung's shirt. Jinpung acts so cute in his embarrassment at Sujin leaning in so close to his chest out in such a public place.

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
I enjoyed hearing your Korean friend's experience with her husband, Smoochie! Yes, I can just see them having to act differently in order to accommodate his visiting mother. I suspect that goes on in a lot of households! LOL!
Last night, Sujin didn't like the idea of Jinpung seeing his schoolteacher blind date a few more times, either! Even though Daepung is hot on SJ's trail, pursuing her until he wears her down a little bit, Sujin still goes out of her way to say 'hi' to Jinpung and ask how he's doing, etc. She never takes the initiative with Daepung. I remember, too, that a while back she made the comment to JP that even though she teased him and always gave him a hard time, her real assessment of him was that she thought he was the nicest, most sincere man in the neighborhood.
Daepung was just too funny doing his disco dancing, wasn't he?! Yi Pilmo is so good at whatever he does. When I see him dancing like that, my mind always goes back to the first drama I saw him in, where he played the most serious, boring guy ever—a diamond in the rough. Good thing we saw him rapidly advance to other roles.
I noticed last night that what I really appreciate and like about Seonpung is that he is a very discerning, sensitive, kind guy, able to couch his words in a wonderfully effective way. When his back was hurting from lugging Eunji around piggyback style, he didn't just drop her to the ground and tell her to grow up and walk. How do you tell a girl like EJ to stop being so childish, to grow up and act like an adult? Seonpung 101. He does it perfectly! It was so sweet to see him finally loosen up and return her embrace. I just love them together—they are both so cute and delightful in opposite ways.

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
ADwatcher, I had the same thoughts, though not the character being gay, but the actor himself. The first time was the scene when he brought home his report card. I love his character, he has a good heart!
Dr. Bro - I just see him as a Peter Pan type of guy, he may or not change by Drama's end.
Cousin - I enjoy the banter between the two of them, but hate how she acts towards Boksil. class blockquote I’m enjoying the actress and reporter. They’re both so sweet…. And she’s cute too!I hope they end up as a couple and not just close friends. Wonder if they will throw in some competition between the two of them. class blockquote I really enjoyed the scene of Seonpung bringing the new teddy bear to Eunji. OMG, that was the best scene ever!!!!! I had tears and shouted out "its wearing glasses". I was afraid she wouldn't except the bear. And, yes, his explanation was the best ever.
I totally missed Thru's ep. Also, I could be wrong, but I thought when the two fathers talked together once, it was mentioned or hinted that it was over Ice Mom.
Also, I think the way SIL and Brutus are handling themselves and family life after their loss makes me very happy. Though, and I think it was twice, the daughter was left on her own and the one time wondered off..... wonder if this is foreshadowing that something may happen to her.

I just wish I could get my KBS World back. 44 just edits too much out of the show.

K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
We are up through episode # 18 in Northern Virginia. Are you one behind in LA? Have some observations, but don't want to get into potential spoilers.
Did the show ever offer a good explaination as to why Bruce's very Americanized family choose to leave the USA and return to Korea? One of the reasons my wife and I decided to return to the US was our fear that our young son would be subject to a lot of schoool yard bigotry if we put him in to a regular Korean school.
Not meant to be an anti-Korean slur -- there is lots of playgorund racism in American playgrounds too -- but in Fairfax County (163,000 kids in the school district) the schools are amazingly diverse, each class, no matter how small, seems to have "one of everything" -- black, Asian, Brown, white, hispanic, you-name-it. Of course, we could have stayed on the American base in Korea, the Department of Defense schools in Korea are the only schools in the world where Korean-American kids are the dominant group!!

Re: K-Drama: 솔약국집 아들들 (My Too Perfect Sons)
<Edit - I believe the episode we saw last night was the first half of #17, beginning with Mipung in the park with Hana, then Sujin sewing on Jinpung's button, Miran singing in her room while others cleaning the patio, the two father's 'dueling' with the trash, etc. If anyone else can verify that it was not #17, please post that info and I will amend my post below. —nchristi >
Last night (Mon 7/13), we saw the first half of Episode 17. Tonight will be the second half of Episode 17. Wed-Thur will be Episode 18 (four half-episodes per week). class blockquote usfkman wrote:

Hyerim knew in the States that she had terminal cancer and I am under the impression that the reason they returned to Korea is that she wanted to ensure the best circumstance for her children and Brutus after her death—since there wasn't much (if any) family to count on in the US and she knew Brutus would be mostly lost after her death. His sister Sujin (lawyer) was the best bet for responsible stability. Along with that I can imagine Hyerim simply wanted to return 'home' to die and wanted to immerse her children in their ethnic culture.
In last night's program, I suppose those two father's are funny but that was a comedic interlude I could have easily done without! I confess I was mostly inattentive while they were throwing trash at one another—was it ever revealed what their original 'betrayal' was all about?
I got a kick out of Jinpung's bashfulness and embarrassment at Sujin "undressing" him in public! LOL! Poor guy. Having her within inches of his chest and face while she's sewing on the button was unbearable intimate contact for him. He will die a thousand deaths around the outspoken Sujin, won't he?!
