Koh Pyeong-jung, who is Eun-seong’s father, struggles to save his company from going bankrupt. One day, his wallet is stolen by a thief along with his ID and credit cards. So a death certificate for Koh Pyeong-jung is promptly issued.
Koh decides to lay low and not tell his family that he is alive to keep the creditors at bay for the time being. But his second wife who is Eun-seong’s stepmother, collects the insurance money that is paid out from his life insurance policy and then kicks out her stepchildren Eun-seong and Eun-woo while moving into a new home with her daughter Seung-mi.
Eun-seong asks for assistance from her boyfriend Hyung-jin who turns her down. Soon after her brother Eun-woo, who is mentally retarded, goes missing. While searching for her brother, Eun-seong works as a waitress at a nightclub and meets Joon-sae, a friend of her former boyfriend. Joon-sae helps Eun-seong as much as he can.
A year later, Eun-seong is still looking for her brother and decides to transfer to a Korean college. So she quits her waitress job and starts selling dumplings to make enough money to pay for her tuition.
Meanwhile, Jang Sook-ja, the founder of a food company, becomes deeply disappointed in her grandson Hwan who has no direction in his life. So to gather her thoughts on what to do about her grandson, she visits her old neighborhood in the poor section of the city where she encounters Eun-seong who is selling dumplings. Re: K-Drama: 찬란한 유산 (Brilliant Legacy)
I saw a little bit of the first episode of this drama. Was not really excited.
I asked a friend on another site and she said it was definitely worth watching and it gets going. Lots of interesting human emotions in the different cast members.
I then realised that Bae Su Bin was in the cast and I was hooked right away.Remember he was the beautiful and very charming homosexual in JUMONG... He is such a good actor and very attractive.
Come along prematurely matured ladies. This man is for us.

Re: K-Drama: 찬란한 유산 (Brilliant Legacy)
I went back and watched episode 1 today (missed it last Friday). It gives a good foundation for the characters in the drama. The step-mom is really a heartless type interested only in money—and only for her daughter, not the step-daughter and autistic step-son. Her best line was to her husband as bankruptcy was inevitable—Take care of this! Even if you have to rip out your heart and sell it!
Speaking of which, the young man playing the autistic son is excellent in his character portrayal. He is so believable that I actually wondered if he's acting! I see that one of his credits is from the Daily Drama, By Land and Sky. I don't remember him, off hand. He would have been 11-12 years old back then.
The leading cast members are a nice selection, too. I'm really happy to see Bae Su Bin in this one (owns the restaurant instead of following his father into corporate life). I like his face and eyes very much. Nice personality, too. Lee Seung Ki is also perfect as the super-spoiled, rich and so-far-worthless grandson. I also really like the actress playing his grandmother, head of the mid-sized company.
At the conclusion of tonight's episode, what in the world is Evil Step-Mom doing with Eun-woo? Is she going to take him to another city and drop him off to fend for himself? She doesn't want to be found by anyone from her 'former life,' and she discovered tonight that Eun Woo remembers numbers. Numbers like her cell-phone, her car license plate, her new fancy apartment address, etc. Better get rid of this kid!
This is an upsetting drama so far. I hope they finish with the shock stuff soon. I won't be able to stand seeing that poor kid abused and knocked about by himself in a strange city or remote area—if that's ESM's (Evil Step-Mom's) plan.

Re: K-Drama: 찬란한 유산 (Brilliant Legacy)
Only seen two episodes but really liking it already.
Can't believe how spoiled Hwan is....what a punk And his mom & sis? are just as materialistic as him! I feel sorry for Grandma...a really good person it seems & now she has lost her memory At least, Eun-sung is involved & with her good heart, she'll help Grandma.
Never seen anything like it...Eun-sung's stepmom, intentionally, dropping off Eun-woo in the middle of nowhere & then changing her & her daughter's cell numbers so they can't be contacted? It's bad enough to do that to a "regular" person but to do it to a mentally-challenged boy is as CRUEL as it gets Thankfully, Seung-mi is nothing like her mom & hoping that Eun-sung's dad reveals himself as being alive, soon!!
Two episodes in and I really like Eun-sung, Hye-ri & Seung-mi...not only beautiful women, physically, but very sweet & good-hearted women. HATING Hwan & Eun-sung's stepmom!!
Wish it was on more than once a week but really liking this drama
--- Nam Sang-Mi...my favorite K-drama actress & a BEAUTIFUL woman!!
Chae Rim...my 2nd favorite K-drama actress & gorgeous!!
