The story revolves around a family-run hotel business that was handed down to Miss Seto by her happy-go-lucky mother. Miss Seto runs the hotel together with her sister, brother and sister-in-law. Due to poor management and a horde of ageing employees, the hotel's business goes downhill. The state of the hotel worries the major shareholder, two brothers - Emil and Sunny. Both decide to step in and re-structure the management style in hope of turning the business around. The new versus the old management style isn't the only issue the employees have to contend with. They are also faced with weird, funny and strange guests who turn up at the hotel, stirring up the tense atmosphere in the hotel even more. The persisting saga mellows only when Sunny and Miss Seto's sister started dating.

Well, the first episode was reasonably enjoyable. This is a light, comedic drama that's funny and entertaining while mostly staying away from slapstick and cheap gags, although there is some crude humor.
Worth checking out (there's a repeat at 11:30am each weekday).

Ask Ivy what is her favourite role so far and she answers without hesitation. “Seto in The Hotel. Why? Because it is the first time I play such a cheerful and adorable character.
"She is very lively, unlike some of the recent roles I played. If you recall, some past roles I did are all rather serious or tragic. So Seto is a fresh change for me and the viewers.”
Indeed, Seto is an interesting character. She is not really ambitious even though she likes to be in the limelight in her work. She craves for love and admires Hanwei even though she belittles men based on her past bad experience.
Ivy continues, “I adopted a more exaggerated and comical way to play Seto. I don’t really know how to describe her...She would do some crazy things to get Hanwei’s attention. On the other hand, she is always at loggerheads with Emil (Sunny’s older brother).”
Guess we would know just how cute Seto is when The Hotel debuts on December 5.
Psst…she does have a very interesting (or rather eccentric) ‘allergy’. Whenever she drinks coffee, she would feel an impulse to dance. Catch her and her hilarious ‘allergy’ in the first episode on Wednesday.
The guy whom Seto is always at loggerheads with does not have things easy as well. Even though Edmund admits that the role of Emil is the most ‘shiok' (slang for enjoyable) role he had so far but he had to go through quite a bit of tough situations in the process of filming.
“Besides being out under the sun and in the rain, I had to climb into drains to catch a tortoise (Rainbow’s pet), dress up as Batman (in a dream), climb walls to please Rainbow (Jacelyn Tay), have a one-night-stand with Ivy, be bitten by a crab…all sorts of things. This is my biggest breakthrough role.”
That’s not all, in addition, he experienced much difficulty in grasping the role.
“I never really acted in comedies before, there are some facial muscles that I never needed to pull. Ha ha."
"Moreover, this is a light comedy but not one of those exaggerated farces. We can’t be too exaggerated or too nonsensical. I had to bring out the funny side to this fussy guy in a serious manner.”
“But after 2-3 weeks of filming, Hanwei, Ivy were already doing very well, but I can’t seem to match up to their level,” he reveals.
“I was really under much pressure then, I spoke to the Executive Producer, the director and Xiang Yun on how to do a breakthrough for this role and they kept telling me to relax," recalls the Best Actor nominee.
"Which I finally did, and then the acting came smoother to me, I got more and more comfortable in this new acting style until I can’t bear to part with the production team.”
Speaking of the role, Edmund is all excited. “He is a shrewd and ambitious entrepreneur but he is fussy to the point of being comical and he is actually rather muddle-headed as well. I usually only watch korean dramas and once in a while a japanese one.
In the past few months on Azn I watch 2 SG dramas that Ivy Lee has acted in. One was Beautiful Trio that aires on AZN a few months ago and which I do not see listed here. And the other is "Th Hotel" which is playing now.
I missed out on recording Beautiful Trio to dvd but am recording The Hotel to dvd-r. I really like Ivy Lee's acting. I checked out Media Corp's website and they only lists dramas she acted in until 2001. Has she not acted in anything else since then?
Oh well I must just keep on checking AZN and see some of her older dramas. Is "Angel's Dream" a drama or movie that she acted in?

I only had time to watch part of one episode, but I do remember the high leg kick in a miniskirt, trapping a guy against a wall.
