I had no problem getting it to work and getting the large screen. However I had to stop about half way because the audio was repeating itself two or three times in each scene. I think it was in both the Japanese and Englsubs. It was really confusing and giving me a headache...Truly!. Had to stop. I hope this can be solved as it looks like a good drama.

Peg.
I believe the problem of repeating scenes is due to the fact that you are watching the episode while downloading it. There is a bar at the bottom of the player that indicates the timeline. Here we can see that the bar fills up from left to right in a grayish color. The gray color indicates the percentage of episode you have downloaded. However, if you happen to download slow then there will come a time when what you are watching has yet to be downloaded.

Let me put it this way. Imagine you were on a train from New York to Los Angeles. However, they are still building the train tracks in Kansas. What happens when you reach Kansas? Thats right you just stop in your tracks and slowly progress as they keep building the train tracks. In the case of the repeating, imagine they had to keep the train moving somehow, the only direction now is backwards.

So what I think is happening is that the player is sending you back a couple of seconds instead of just stopping the video. This would cause the repeating behavior you mentioned above. I really can't replicate this behavior but I assume this is the cause.

Moises,

I don't think I am downloading this at all. I just click it on and watch it play. I do a lot of watching dramas to decide about buying them so I know when I watch and when I actually d/l. Two different things. anyway when I replayed it the problem solved itself it seems. Don't know why or how but very happy it did something for me!! The picture did not repeat by the way ..it was just the audio.

thanks for opinion tho because I will have that knowledge for the future.

Peg

Moises - Yeah, that's how the video looked for me. I was using Fit to Screen with Smooth Video. I think that's the default. But having the Smooth Video option on really made a difference in terms of the pixelations and quality of the subtitles.

Nchristi - Glad that the Full Screen option worked! Guess Full Screen had to warm up a bit before it could play the episode, haha. But I know what you mean about the 3x5 box getting smaller - its so hard to watch in that tiny Original Video format! But yeah, the 12 PM is Pacific time. Few more hours till discussion time begins!

Peg - Glad to hear that the video worked! Interesting that it was just the audio repeating.. sometimes what happens to me is that both the audio and video repeat (like when I'm watching YouTube and the whole video hasn't loaded yet) but never just the audio or subtitles. Oh well, at least it works now though! *knock on wood* emoticon

Glad that everybody's happy with the video club idea and the drama as well. Thanks for the support! emoticon

can't wait....

I think Makoto and Nao will have a tense little battle going on. I am on the Nao side at the moment. She is so charming and bubbly and she obviously likes Toji so much. He needs someone like her to support him. He seems so hardworking and straight ahead and loyal to his friend who is such a klutz.
this first episode gives a lot of different areas for the story to wander.

Great first episode. I really like these types of romantic comedies, they don't stress you out while watching them (like Hana Yori Dango did for me), but they still maintain an awesome plot. I really like the main character Touji. He has a very quiet nature, it seems, but he's really smart and kind deep down and knows what he's doing.

Peg, I agree with you about Nao. She's really sweet and kind, and I think she'd make Touji feel happy and positive (just like how she made the clutz co-worker feel in the restaurant). I'd rather see Touji pay more attention to her than Makoto. I found it odd when Touji was behaving in such a cold manner to Nao, who made it open and public to her co-workers about her relationship (even if it would cause a company scandal or threaten her job). She even went as far to reserve a vacation for the two of them. But unfortunately, it seems from the last scene that Touji isn't able to forget Makoto.. and this is where the conflict will arise.

Makoto needs to keep her distance from the co-worker who always follows her around. The one who asked her flat out.. "Do you have a boyfriend?". But the setting is also really good for this show - I don't think we've seen a supermarket drama before. The closest thing to this was probably the Shopping Man drama.

Episode 2 will be posted up next Saturday, April 19th! Looking forward to see more about the characters!

Re: J-Drama Video Club: starts Saturday, April 12th!!

Enjoyed the first episode. It reminded me of several things we‛ve seen in the past—the movie "Shall We Dance," the series "Crying Out from the Center of the Earth," and also the drama about the young widower and son whose dead wife comes back "until the rainy season begins."

Well, I have two new words to add to my vocabulary: "Green" and "Purple"!

Also I see that we have our token slimy playboy type. And, of course, our hero is the good-hearted, good-natured guy who doesn‛t take "no" for an answer—in business, anyway. (In romance, they're door mats way too often.)

The ex-girlfriend... Don‛t know about her, yet. She seems a little jaded, especially compared to the elevator girl who has taken her place—at least temporarily. I did notice, however, that both the ex and the main guy still have their matching lovers' trinkets on their cell phones.

Then there‛s our hero‛s family. OMG. What a depressing lot they are. Can‛t stand that father who views his wife only as a workhorse to make his life easier. And the younger brother! Another lazy, self-centered loser. I‛d like to drop kick him off the balcony. He can come back inside when he shapes up his attitude. Poor Mom. No wonder she‛s in no hurry to return to the family nest.

Re: J-Drama Video Club: starts Saturday, April 12th!!

Before I get into the first episode I would like to mention that I have been wanting to see this series since the end of Batsu Kare. This happens to be the first of the "Kare" dramas. Of course the characters share no relationship with the characters in Batsu and the story is different. The only thing they share in common is the "Kare" name, writers/producers and a couple of actors in different roles.

Now to the episode. I thought it was pretty good first episode. They haven't really touched on Toji's and Makoto's past relationship much except for the flashback and elevator encounter. But we'll become aware as the show moves on. I bet they still have strong feelings for each other, but I wonder what happened that caused them to split in the first place.

I get the feeling that Toji himself doesn't have strong feelings for Nao even though they are dating. It seems evident that Nao has strong feelings for Toji. She happens to be really aggressive as well (the kiss, hot springs vacation). It doesn't bode well for Toji if Nao happens to discover Makoto is his former lover.

So far its been a good start of the series.

LOL! Yeah, their whole family seemed a bit off to me. The brother kept complaining about whatever was on the dinner table - but then would give in and eat it anyway. The dad would complain and grumble about his wife. Looks like poor Touji tok after his mom! Mom has probably found a moment of peace with her parents and is reluctant to go back to such a negative environment. Touji should get out of there too!

I think Touji and Makoto (the ex) might still have feelings for each other. I guess Touji's little introduction in the beginning of the episode (about unforgettable memories on summer vacation) implies that to him, Makoto was unforgettable (maybe a first love?) Maybe that's why he's so reluctant to go on a summer vacation with his new girlfriend Nao. As for Makoto, she better keep her eyes out for that slimy new co-worker she has around!
