Re: J-Drama: 天地人 (Tenchijin)

I am looking forward to this one. I love Kitamura Kazuki in anything ,but he is really good in taiga. Also Abe Hiroshi is always interesting.
Kagetora was a great warrior if I remember correctly.
We'll have Oda Nobunaga who is also a war lord I admired greatly. What a strong and cruel man but truly great.

Can't wait for this one.

Bubu, thanks for posting the front page and info for Tenchijin! Yeah, this taiga does look like it's going to be great. Like Atsuhime, it seems to have a really excellent and well-rounded cast. We're going from the late Tokugawa period all the way back to the late 1500s and the Warring States period, so it'll be interesting to watch yet another perspective on this period of Japanese history.

I'm glad Abe Hiroshi will be in this drama! Peg, I agree -- he always makes the dramas very interesting. I think he played the role of Taira no Tomomori in the 2005 taiga, Yo****sune. He was very convincing -- I'm looking forward to seeing him and Kitamura Kazuki in this taiga.

Re: J-Drama: 天地人 (Tenchijin)

The narrators for a lot of Japanese programs are women and frequently seem to have similar voices. I've always found the women narrators to be very effective and pleasing to hear. This time it's Miyamoto Nobuko, born in 1945. I'll bet she's got a great voice by now!

The cast certainly does contain a lot of our regulars. And lots of young model/singer types.

I think Atsuhime sped by faster than any taiga I've watched so far. Some have been interesting for the most part, others about as exciting as watching paint dry. Atsuhime was a treat in every way. Costuming, music, sets... everything was beautiful. Great script writing and acting, too. It will be difficult to follow an outstanding taiga like Atsuhime.

yosha! I'm so looking forward to this drama. Kitamura kazuki is a wonderful actor. I'm so used to him playing an evil guy role.
Abe hiroshi is also my favorite actor too.

Re: J-Drama: 天地人 (Tenchijin)

Nchristi, I felt the same way about Atsuhime. I think our taiga this year has been one of my favorite taiga dramas of all time. It's been wonderful watching how all the characters develop and mature throughout their lives. Sometimes, I'll go back and re-watch the older episodes just to see how much some of our characters have changed. The acting, music, and other aspects to this drama have made it even more exciting to watch every week. I can't believe there's only five or six episodes left to go -- this drama really has zoomed on by! I'm hoping that Tenchijin will also be a good taiga drama, even though we're going back from the late Tokugawa period to the Warring States period with Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu.

I agree about the women narrators! They do such a great job on the narrations for the various Japanese dramas. I think there were some very good voices on the morning dramas, too. I've really enjoyed our narrator for Atsuhime. She always adds an aura of suspense and excitement -- especially at the end of her episode, when she makes her closing remark. Hopefully Miyamoto Nobuko will do a great job! I'm looking forward to hearing her narration for Tenchijin.

Diane, I've never seen Kitamura Kazuki in a drama before. This will be my first time, but I've heard he's a great actor.

Yeah, it's always wonderful to see Abe Hiroshi in any drama. He always immerses himself in the role he is playing and makes for a very believable performance.

It looks like the possible leading lady is going to be played by Tokiwa Takako. I think we saw her star in a drama a couple of years ago called The Last Princess... it was a two or three episode series about a Japanese princess who married a Chinese prince during the Second World War. I can't remember if it was on LA-18 or KXLA, but she did a pretty good job. It'll be good to see her again.

Bubu, thanks for posting the updated cast list and cast chart! emoticon

I think the first episode of this drama aired yesterday in Japan. I'm going to miss seeing Atsuhime (I think it's been my favorite taiga drama so far), but I'm also really looking forward to Tenchijin! The story seems interesting, and they've also chosen a great cast!
