Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Yesterday's episode was really sad but had a nice ending, didn't it? I was pretty surprised! But seeing all those familiar faces gave me hope that things will be okay with the inn and the Kagami family.
Nchristi, I, too, have really been enjoying the outstanding performance of the Tamaki actress in these last couple of episodes. The scene in yesterday morning's episode (where she saw the ZW standing outside the door) was really well done. I also liked the part where Tamaki declared to Akiyama and his corporate raider team that they will do everything they can to get the inn back into the hands of the family. Go Tamaki!! Looks like we can officially add her to the list of people who have seen the ZW (the late HP, Heiji, Akiyama, Tokie, etc.)
Yep, it was interesting how Satoshi and the Japanese man in the corporate raid team seemed to know each other from somewhere. I wonder where they might have met? I think Heiji said once that Satoshi is from Tokyo or Yokohama as well, so maybe they might know each other from the city? Hmm.
Akiyama has given the inn one week. Before he walked out of the inn, he looked back at the calligraphy hanging on the wall that is a symbol of the inn's hospitality. I hope Natsumi and Tamaki's inspiring words today will eventually move Akiyama's heart.
I, too, was really happy and surprised to see all those characters! Yep, it was Ryu Shi Won in Seoul, the mother of the allergic boy in Tokyo, and ex-GF, her dad, and Masaki's former boss at the Yokohama hotel. It appeared that they were all shocked upon reading the comments in the magazine that Kagamiya Inn was on the verge of bankruptcy. Interesting how the article were written in English. I guess Kagamiya must be known internationally as a famous inn in Japan.
I became even more surprised when we saw Ayaka (Koji's ex-GF who was competing for the proprietress position) and the former Head Chef return to Kagamiya, too! They can all show Akiyama and his team of corporate raiders what the inn's hospitality is all about!
Looking forward to this morning's episode!
BTW, it looks like at the end of each episode (after the 'To be continued' screen), we see two or three characters from the drama saying Dondo Hare. In yesterday morning's episode, I think it was Heiji, Tokie, and the Head Clerk.

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Episode 151 (Wed 10/28)
Another really good episode this morning. Everyone is rallying around Kagamiya Inn and helping out. Ayaka and Emiko are helping Tokie and Kana look after the guests, while the Head Chef and Yujiro (the Tea Master) are helping the others in the kitchen. Satoshi is in the garden with the Head Clerk, and the Professor is greeting the guests and taking their shoes! How nice of everyone to be helping the inn in this time of crisis.
Ayaka mentioned that thanks to one of her late father's friends, her family was able to pay off their debt. Thanks to her time at Kagamiya before, she learned how to trust and believe in others. So, when she heard that the inn was in trouble, she genuinely wanted to return and help out again. Same with the Head Chef. After the incident that occurred before, he wanted to come back and work at the inn again. However, he decided that upon returning, he would be working for Koji (the new Head Chef) rather than getting his old position back.
What a surprise to see the other maids. The three of them were hiding in the garden and peeking inside the kitchen, noticing all the extra help the Kagami family was getting. They wished they could get their old jobs back, but now they're not sure since their positions (at least temporarily) have been filled. I wonder how they will handle this? I wonder if the other two cooks who were helping Koji out in the kitchen are in the same situation?
Sadly, news of Kagamiya's situation has been revealed to the Japanese public. Thanks to Mr. Camus, an article was published in what seems to be a popular Japanese magazine, claiming that Kagamiya is in financial trouble, and that the management should resign. However, they are "refusing to give up power." Akiyama was furious upon hearing news of the article being released. He told Camus to never do something like that again, since he (Akiyama) was the team leader. "We'll see how long that will last" was all Camus had to say after Akiyama stormed out of the room. Looks like this 'power struggle' between Akiyama and Camus is worse than I thought.
Satoshi seems to know something about all this. We found out that he's returned to Tokyo, telling Kana that he will try to help Kagamiya another way. Maybe it's related to the man in the corporate raid team that seemed to know Satoshi?
Just four episodes left... Ep. 152 tomorrow!

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Of all episodes, my VCR ran out of tape and stopped recording. Mistakenly thinking it was recording, I flitted in and out of the room, not paying much attention to what was happening in the episode. Woe is me! Not to worry, though. Hiroshi to the rescue! Thanks so much for the summary. Filled in all the important stuff I missed, especially between Akiyama and Camus.
Such a nice surprise to see the former chef, Ayaka and others rallying round the Kagami family. A very clever and pleasant way for the writers to bring the drama to a victorious conclusion. They not only refresh our memories of all the problematic challenges Natsumi faced along her way to becoming the Young Proprietress, but also all those memories are now being connected in a very positive, powerful and happy way.
In my opinion, this drama has been, by far, the best series of little vignettes that are these morning dramas. I'm sure the conclusion will end in a very satisfying, 'feel good' way. It seems the message is that Good can win in the end if people learn to see and trust the Good in others. But we all know the real reason this is working out is having a ZW in the house! LOL!

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Nchristi, you're welcome! I'm glad to hear that the summary was helpful.
I agree, Dondo Hare has been my favorite of these morning dramas, too. What a wonderful story with great characters, an interesting plot, and wonderful cultural tidbits, like all the folklore associated with this region of Japan. From the start, it was just a wonderful drama. Though Natsumi's faced many hardships and difficulties on her way to becoming the Young Proprietress, the drama really has a positive feel to it as it winds down towards the end. Wonderful drama. I'm really going to miss it! It'll feel a little empty not watching Natsumi and the other Kagamiya Inn characters every morning!
Yep, everything works out if you have a zashiki warashi in the house!

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Episode 152 (Thurs 10/29)
Today's episode was really inspiring. It was especially nice to see some of the former guests who had their lives impacted by Kagamiya Inn do their best to help the inn out in this time of crisis. The Korean actor Ryu Shi Won (who ended up marrying his Japanese girlfriend that he had come to Morioka to look for) made an announcement on his official web page asking all of his fans to support the inn. The economist (mother of the allergic boy) appeared on a national talk show to state that the hostile takeover of the inn by the corporate raid team was wrong and that it should not be tolerated. Thanks to all the recent publicity, the inn has been getting many reservations -- both by telephone and on the website!
It was nice to see the former head chef agree to work with the women in the kitchen. He used to be against it before, but he told Natsumi today that he couldn't be bound by that tradition anymore. Now, the maids will be able to help out in the kitchen and work together with the former head chef. It'll make things flow a lot easier in the kitchen, too.
After Ayaka praised Natsumi's flower arrangement, Natsumi asked her if she was planning to try and rebuild her relationship with Koji, Shinichi's brother. Ayaka mentioned that she wants to, but not until the crisis with the inn is resolved.
Now Masaki's off to Yokohama to meet with his ex-GF and her uncle, who is the president of the hotel where he used to work. The uncle has managed to make an appointment to meet with someone in Akiyama's company, so it's a great chance for Masaki to talk to someone from the company. Hopefully things will be go okay...
On to Ep. 153 tomorrow.

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Episode 153 (Friday 10/30)
I watched the 6a airing today. What an episode! On the bright side, Aki the Photog has returned to Morioka, and Tamaki asked her to take pictures of all the employees while they were working. She wants to hand down these photos to future generations of the Kagami family to show them how hard they worked to keep the inn in the family's hands. Aki happily agrees.
I also enjoyed the conversation between Akiyama and Heiji. Akiyama's always been a little scared of Heiji, hasn't he? LOL! This time, Heiji told Akiyama flat out that he's picked a difficult adversary for his next 'fight.' Heiji believes that no matter how evil the corporate raid team is, they will never be able to harm Kagamiya because the ZW is there. In his own words, Heiji advises Akiyama to pack up and go home because it would be impossible to control Kagamiya and the ZW. I got a kick out of the way Heiji walked away right after he said that, laughing to himself.
Things turned around at the end of the episode. Camus and the two other members of the corporate raid team have arrived at the inn and are ordering the suspension of business. When Akiyama walks into the room, Camus proudly remarks to him that because things were moving too slowly in Morioka, he's received an announcement from their head office in New York that he was to take over as the team leader from here on out, resulting in Akiyama working for Camus. The 'proposition' Camus made was that if the Kagami family did not agree at once to the reform plans the corporate raid team is proposing, they would remove the family from management, as well as immediately getting rid of all the employees. Camus mentioned that they even had a proprietress of their own to 'replace' Tamaki with if they had to, along with other maids, cooks, etc. This is getting dangerous.
The fly in the ointment is Satoshi. Today, we saw him a business suit, walking into a large executive office (in what looked like Tokyo) and greeting a man at the desk. At first, I thought the man at the desk might be the head of the corporate raid company, who used to always call Akiyama and ask him how things were going in Morioka. But it looked like someone different. Apparently, Satoshi is going to be working here again, but we're still left in the dark about what this company is, and what Satoshi plans to do. Hmm.
Now that Camus and his team have personally returned to the inn and ordered Tamaki to suspend business, I wonder if Natsumi will be able to join Masaki in Tokyo in time for the meeting they've scheduled?
Three episodes left...

Re: J-Drama: どんど晴れ (Perfect Blue Sky)
Episode 154 (Mon 11/2)
Well, it seems there is always bad news whenever we finally get some good news! While Camus and his 'cronies' are getting ready to pull the plug on Kagamiya, Akiyama remembers Heiji's words to him about the Zashiki Warashi and drops the bomb -- Camus and the company control only 48% of the Kagamiya stock, while he (Akiyama) controls the remaining 5% as commission. Unless Akiyama turns his stock over to Camus (making the total holdings 53%) the corporate raiders won't have be the majority stockholders anymore. Furthermore, Tamaki confirmed that even if Camus approaches the other Kagami relatives and asks them to sell some of their stocks, they will never agree. Since Akiyama agreed to hand over the 5% stock he holds back to the Kagami family, they are once again the majority stockholders.
When Natsumi and Masaki head to Tokyo, they meet with who seems to be the 'head honcho' of this hotel firm, Mr. Kishimoto. He turns out to be none other than Satoshi's father. Even when Masaki, Natsumi, and Satoshi ask him to help Kagamiya in any way he can, he gives a generic 'There's always a winner and a loser in this world' answer to them and seems unwilling to assist any further. With only 2 episodes left, I'm crossing my fingers that our ZW will be able to work some miracles here!
I got a kick out of Ex-GF's comment to Natsumi when she saw her. "Natsumi, you even managed to get the corporate raider on your side! How like you." LOL!
