posticon J-Drama: 魔王 (Devil)

Note: I had e-mailed UTB on Tuesday morning to ask about the "Please Stand By" screen appearing on Channel 18.2, and I also inquired about what the next Sunday drama would be. They replied that Maou would start airing following the final episode of Love Shuffle. They also mentioned that commercials for the new drama would start airing soon on Channel 18.2. I'll add the official starting date as soon as UTB begins airing the promos for the drama. —Hiroshi

Re: J-Drama: 魔王 (The Devil)

This should be interesting, especially since I saw the Korean version (also known as Lucifer). An excellent Korean drama. I'll look forward to seeing how the Japanese production company handles it.

The original story is very mysterious. Who is good and who is bad? When you think you've got it down in black and white, it suddenly shifts into a dense grey! Very involved, intriguing story, leading the viewer down many paths before it's over.

Of course the Japanese may have changed it to suit their style, but it should be well-done (I hope).

Re: J-Drama: 魔王 (The Devil)

This sounds like it's going to be a pretty mysterious drama full of suspense, twists, and turns! I didn't see the Korean version, but I'm glad to hear that the story was excellently done. Hopefully the Japanese production will be the same way! It sounds it's going to be a really enthralling and suspenseful drama. I'm looking forward to it!

DramaWiki lists that this drama was aired in the summer of 2008 in Japan. After it ended, Bound by Shooting Stars began airing in the same time slot. I guess there were quite a few suspense/mystery dramas aired last year in Japan!

Looking forward to this one.

Also, it seems like UTB has been airing alot of TBS dramas. Most of the more recent dramas that they have shown have come from TBS. The only one that wasn't was Hotaru no Hikari which was an NTV program.

Yes, it looks like The Pride of Temp (which UTB broadcast in mid-2008) was the most recent non-TBS drama we saw during the Sunday night time-slot. Even the two Friday night dramas we saw (Scandal and Bound by Shooting Stars) were TBS dramas. Most of UTB's dramas seem to be originally broadcast on Channel TBS in Japan, even though the morning and taiga dramas are both produced by NHK.

I heard some say Devil (Japanese version) is better than Lucifer (Korean version). I'm gonna watch soon. No spoiler please Image

I saw the preview during Love Shuffle. I thought it looked familiar, because I seen the original Korean version. That was a very good drama.
I can't wait to see how the Japanese Version turned out.

Yes, I also saw the preview during last night's episode of Love Shuffle. From the looks of it, it's going to be a very intense drama! I'm looking forward to watching it, especially since the production won quite a few awards.

It looks like Devil will begin airing on Sunday, October 11th. Episode 1 will be divided into two parts, so it will be aired over the course of two weeks (10/11 & 10/18). I'm looking forward to watching!

Re: J-Drama: 魔王 (Devil)

I was checking the cast list on the Dramawiki page, and even though some of the names sound a little familiar, I don't recall seeing any members of the cast on the recent J-dramas that have aired on Channel 18.2. There seem to be quite a lot of characters, too. I have high hopes for this drama! Looking forward to watching it and seeing actors/actresses that I haven't seen in any drama before. emoticon
