I happen to see the drama just now! I only saw a few minutes. I'm on team Kiyomi B. I wonder is it going to be on monday thru friday at 7:30. On thursday nights, I'm at the kingdom hall. I think I'm going to miss a few hours of red/white show.

Re: J-Drama: ちりとてちん (Life's like a Comedy)
Episode 3 (Mon 11/9)
I got a kick out of Kiyomi's interpretation of the rakugo story she and her grandfather were listening to. The viewers got to see a visual of what happened in the story. Since it presumably took place in traditional Japan, all the characters were wearing clothes from long ago. The funniest part was that the main character in the rakugo scene was played by the same actress who plays Kiyomi's mom! I thought her face looked familiar, and once she started speaking I recognized her voice. No wonder this actress won a 'Best Supporting Actress' award for her performance(s) in the drama. She's really good!
There's some really cute scenes in this drama. One was when the grandmother comments that Kiyomi doesn't know how to use the chopsticks properly yet. Kiyomi's mother agreed with her MIL's comment and wondered to herself who Kiyomi takes after? At the same time, she started having a similar problem with her chopsticks, too!
The mom is funny. Another scene I found funny was when Kiyomi's father and uncle are doing a math problem with her. The problem says that the older sister gets 2/3 of the cake and the brother gets the rest. Mom comes stomping over to the table from the kitchen, shocked at why both siblings aren't getting exactly half. "It's just a math problem!", dad exclaims.
And then the school field trip. Kiyomi asks her mother to make her a big lunch she can share with all of her friends. This was her plan to 'outshine' Kiyomi A, the "popular" student in the class. When Kiyomi opens her lunchbox the day of the field trip, expecting to see lots of different dishes, she finds one helping of buckwheat noodles along with a sweet note from mom. When Kiyomi returns home, her mother tells her that Kiyomi's late maternal grandmother used to make her buckwheat noodles for lunch too. Even though the other students would laugh or tease her, she would always be proud to eat her mom's homemade noodles. I thought that was really sweet.
We find out Kiyomi A (the popular student) has an older brother. Our Kiyomi comments that she wishes she had an older brother instead of a younger brother.
Things don't look too good between dad and grandpa. Dad really wants to take over the lacquered chopstick business, but grandpa seems unforgiving and refuses to even have dad enter his workshop. I wonder if something else happened between them besides the dad leaving home?

I just started watching this show today. I like it. It's really sweet. I really liked her big lunch fantasy.
