J-Drama: JIN
I just came across a new Japanese drama called 'JIN' on D-addicts. I was curious about the name so searched the Wiki.
I was delighted to see that the main lead actor was OSAWA TAKAO. He was an early heart throb of mine in J.Dramas. He is still most attracrive and a very good actor.
the story is unusual I think. It is about a doctor in a large Tokyo hospital. Through some strange malady in his brain he is transported back to the days of early Japan in the Edo period. I have only watched part of the first episode so far and there are no subs as yet. I think someone is doing soft subs. There are three episodes up on D-addicts at the moment. I have the feeling this may be a good drama.

Re: J-Drama: JIN
I don't know if we will see this on TV here for some time. In any case I can only see JTV on the two regular channels here that is 32 and 25. However the Dramacrazy website is very good and I was glad to be reminded of it by Diane. I have watched episode 1 already with English subs and I must say I am delighted with this drama.
I have always loved Osawa and he is such a good actor. Yes he is getting to look very mature but he is still very attractive and has that great smile.I like that period in Japanese history and it is intriguing to think of a modern doctor having a role in the historical plotting and plans that went on at that time. If he had not saved lives while transported back to the Edo period, would they still have occurred. Interesting to ponder on.

Re: J-Drama: JIN
Thanks to Diane reminding me about 'dramacrazy' I am watching this drama online. It is fabulous. It is so good that you want to see the next episode right away but at the same time you don't want it to go too quickly. It is a triple threat with great acting, good direction and such wonderful cinematography
I have d.l the video from D-addicts. Ialso tried to get the subs. However had all sorts of problems and could never get them to play even after finally d/l them. Have tried every way possible but no luck. so I am still watching onlin and hoping that someday they will put out a DVD with Eng. subs. Small hope I think.
Someone else is also having trouble with the subs so maybe it is not just me!!
I urge you all to try this drama. It is one of the best of the season so far.

Re: J-Drama: JIN
It seems that the transported doctor is now dealing with a cholera epidemic. He has the help of medical doctors of that era but it is very difficult for him.
At times it is as thought he can't remember his 'modern' life, but he does remember medical procedures. These cannot be translated into anything meaningful to the Edo people.
I don't remember a cholera epidemic during this period in Sensingumi(?sp). There is definitely mention of black ships and the interest of the shogun in things western.
The above is really not a spoiler. There is such a great deal of story which surrounds all of this.
