Re: The Korean Wave
Hiroshi, thanks for your response. I get it ... but ... you know ... and, thank heaven for the Korean Wave, because one of the greatest upsides of this phenomena is that it has enveloped us all, helping so many unknowingly cross those long-held resentments and step toward unity around the world, for not just the Japanese but other cultures. We are slowly becoming one world, one people. Just look at what's happening in No.Kr. ... more peace talks. Something to think about on this day of Thanksgiving. Have a good one, all.

Well, I mean it is sounding a lot like all people who are into Asian culture are readily accepting Korean dramas and culture. I don't watch Korean dramas - for one thing. I was just pointing out that there has to be a lot of Japanese or Chinese who are getting ticked off at the Korean Wave.
Does this really need to be said? Racists are everywhere and Japan is no exception. It just sounds like you're a little ticked off at the Korean Wave.
Me, on the Korean Wave:
You? :
TripleLei, this comment of yours was out of hand, and also a bit off-topic. You imply that I am a "little ticked off" at the Korean Wave... where did I imply this? I don't know how you got the idea in your head, but by saying I don't watch Korean dramas doesn't mean I don't like Koreans. I was merely pointing out that not all Asian culture fans are interested in Korea. I didn't say I wasn't interested in Korea - I don't watch the dramas, but i have done quite a lot of research on the area.
Furthermore, its obvious you don't read posts and only concentrate on a certain word said and then proceed to ignore everything else. Perhaps you should look at my the previous post before the one you did a research paper on.. I said that many racists in Japan may not like the Korean Wave coming to Japan, or many Chinese may not like it either. Its odd because you guys seem to say the opposite of what I say.. above when I mentioned racism, star1 commented that there really wasn't a point of mentioning racism in this topic. Now, you say that I'm thinking Japan's isn't racist.. and you even put a link to Debito.org..
You've put me in a spot.. just because I don't watch K-dramas doesn't mean I don't like Koreans or the Korean Wave.. get your facts straight. So I mention racists in Japan and then I am accused of being one..
Me, after my recent post:

Re: The Korean Wave
Hiroshi, I think you misinterpreted what I meant when I said "Sorry you raised the question?" What I said had nothing whatsoever to do w/ your comment re racism, but, rather the fact that I bombarded you w/all the Winter Sonata (my fav drama) info. Sorry if I wasn't clear, but when I get started on WS, it is hard to stop Please accept my apology.
Ok, minorityreport is sleeping, let's not wake mr.
You are certainly entitled to express any opinion you have. However, I do agree w/triple lei's thoughts simply because (a) all aspects of the Wave are positive and (b) don't believe we should break it up to create a by-product where one does not openly exist, because such an approach is not my style. It is what it is. There are many celebs from various Asian cultures who are bringing recognition, awareness and $$$$ to not only their countries but around the world. Cheers to them!
here's a prime example --
Jang Suh Hee received the “Korean Wave Award” presented by Ministry of Culture & Tourism of Republic of Korea at Hilton Hotel on 3/5. JSH’s MBC drama “Miss Mermaid (인어아가씨)” is well liked by viewers in Taiwan, thus she is selected as the best Korean Wave star. Singer Kangta will also receive an award.
She is an excellent actress. So glad she finally recd some addt'l recog. kudos to Suh Hee. I have always admired her work.
