I have missed hearing from you and Vannessave on the boards. Hope all is well. We will be attending the Peace Concert at the Galen Center at USC on the 5th but we'll try to get over to Little Tokyo on Sunday...sounds fun.

There are still tickets available for the Peace Concert...www.thepeaceconcert.com great lineup of muscians and entertainers.

Re: Events!

My daughter is dying to see some live Jpop. Her favorite groups are NEWS and KATAN...."Yamapi is the coolest", she says. If anyone out there knows of any Japanese music concerts to be held in the southern california area could you post info here? thanks.

I don't follow Jpop very closely, (my main exposure comes from J-drama theme songs LOL!) so I don't know much about local events, but I think there is a upcoming concert by an artist named Ai, June 22 in Redondo Beach.
http://www.universal-music.co.jp/ai/index.html

Ai will perform in a benefit concert – only her second appearance in the U.S. – on Sunday, June 22, 7 p.m., at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Ticket information is available by calling Go For Broke at (310) 222-5713.

As the summer and Nisei Week approaches there may be more local Jpop events announced. You can maybe try JACCC or the Rafu Shimpo. Also, I would try the L.A. area Japanese record and book stores, they should have better information on upcoming events.

That's all I can think of right now... If I hear of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

Re: Events!

Though its not really J-pop (and though the date has already passed) I know the Yoshida Brothers had a concert in LA on May 14th at the El Rey Theater. I was dying to go but things came up so I wasn't able to. I also had heard that the J-rock singer Miyavi had a concert on May 16th. Then again, neither of these artists are really J-pop.

Like bubu said, a lot of the Japanese bookstores and music stores in Little Tokyo or the South Bay will have posters or information on any possible future concerts or appearances.
