**Breaking News** AZN TV to Shut Down April 9
Broadcasting & Cable magazine is reporting that Comcast's AZN Television channel will cease broadcasting on April 9, 2008, due to its inability to attract a wider audience outside Comcast's subscriber base and an adequate body of advertisers. The network, which geared its programming for the Asian-American population, was another outlet for anime series on broadcast cable channels.

Well this news just proves my point that dumping basic cable and running away to digital cable was a really, really great idea!! what's their next bright idea a pay per view anime channel perhaps.

Well, I guess UTB isn't the only one making sacrifices and cutting programs due to financial strain. Cable channels are starting to shut down permanently, as we see here. Its really too bad. I have Time Warner and I usually watch some Japanese programs on AZN TV (due to the lack of it on LA-18 nowadays). I guess that means we're only left with ImaginAsian.

TimeWarner also has an option to subscribe for it monthly. I used to do it but it came out to 25 dollars a month. I'm sure the price has increased in recent years too.

That's just great . I'm in the middle of nowhere (unlike the most of you) & don't get any other stations w/Asian programs. I guess I will just have to read your posts and order dramas I think will be interesting. I did enjoy seeing the recent dramas AZN had started showing .

Oh, wow. What dreadful news. I don't have AZN TV myself, but I can certainly empathize with a lot of our members who do and who rely on it.
How is it that people watch KBS World (with e-subs)? Were there not other sources for KBS World besides the AZN TV channel?
MikeyArizona, do you have any ideas how people can watch the K-dramas? What is your opinion on what might be the best alternative? Is DishNetwork a viable option? (I guess that depends on which area a person lives in, right? Or if they can afford it?)

You know this really sucks! AZN was the reason I got digital cable! I really enjoy AZN and thought they gave a good varitey of programming. That means that I won't see the end of Here Comes Ajumma before they shut down, unless they double up on the episodes. Oh well what can you do. AZN will be sorely missed.

Hmm, I'm not sure if DirecTV or DishNetwork have a KBS channel, but I have TimeWarner and I have a seperate KBS channel. They air news programs, variety, and some dramas. I've never watched the dramas, but I've run across a few when flipping channels and some do have English subtitled. Is this where LA-18 and AZN TV get their KBS blocks from? Its odd because they air the same news programs that LA-18 airs on weekday nights (and I think these are aired on AZN too).
