Did he go looking for Mr. Baby?
Because Buddy Cat is missing. He went out about 3am Tuesday and has not returned. Jack and I are worn out from poor Baby's suffering and loss. This situation is beyond belief. Almost exactly seven days. We have done the searches etc, and still hope he may return...sorry to burden you with another personal tragedy. It may be tiny in the grand scheme but Buddy was a good friend and I didn't think our hearts could hurt any more than they were after Baby. Pixel, our 25 yr old Queen cat misses her lads too, and is asking for attention from us to take in the slack. Of course we give it. It's the least we can do.

That really is awful... I've heard of cats disappearing for a while then turning up again out of the blue, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that Buddy will do the same.

Re: Did he go looking for Mr. Baby?
I'll sound like a broken record, but remember that my cat Benjamin vanished for an entire month in 2004.. or was it 2005? hmmm
Anyway.
I'd given up all hope and he just showed up in the garage one day..

Re: Did he go looking for Mr. Baby?
We are pretty sure the Budcat won't be coming home, tho we look for him. And we will keep hoping. This area has had an immense increase in coyotes so we think Bud got caught unaware while hunting or traveling, maybe thinking he would find Mr. B somewhere in his prowl. Jack and I feel he loved his life with us too much and would have come home if he was alive.
Went to Petsmart for Pixel food and the animal shelter had an adoption display setup. Saw 3 little brothers for adoption...2 marmalade and a black and white like the Bud. Sweet and friendly, very tame and appealing. It might just be time, we are just trying to determine if they will be good for the old lady, she is 25 after all and we don't want her stressed. But the brothers seem so mellow. Hmmm. Buttercup, Mello Yello or Banana Flip and for their black and white bro, hmmmmm. Buddy would love 3 little troopies to raise up if he could just come home, so that's no problem. Called the vet and asked and there was no sign of anything in Mr. B's illness to adversely effect new kittens. We just need to be sure Pixel will be happy and safe.

Re: Did he go looking for Mr. Baby?
That's such a shame that Buddy still hasn't turned up. You'll be so used to him being there that it'll feel as though he's gone for good even though it's only been a matter of days, just because you'll be so aware of his missing presence. One of my aunt's cats disappeared once. He was the friendliest tabby you'd ever come across, and he was gone for months before he turned up again. It was so out of character for him to go missing, and then he turned up miles away. He seemed to have become more wild away from his family and familiar territory, so it took the people who found him ages to get near enough to read the details on his collar. Even the tamest cats can be really independant if needs be ~ I'll still keep my fingers crossed that Buddy will come back home.
Those kittens sound adorable! How old are they? (When I read your description of them, I had to look at the quote at the end of your messages and smile ~ it really does seem to be true!) If you do decide to take them, I'd love to see photos!
EDIT: I see you took the kittens after all! Congratulations on the new additions! Have you decided on names yet? I like the suggestions Buttercup and Banana Flip...
