Re: Did he go looking for Mr. Baby?

Well we did get em. they wouldnt have lasted the day at the shelter, they have over a 100 kittens now and low funds. our biggest worry is how Pixel, the 25 yr old lady cat will do and so far a bit of hissing and one time just after they got here, she caught my eye and promptly peed on kitchen floor...not an accident, a deliberate I'm afraid. But since then no probs, kits very good used boxes exclusively and Pix knows they are staying and has "voiced" no more protest.
We are not giving up on Budd, who if we are graced with his return, would enjoy a group of little troopies to raise. We shall see, I sure hope we do.
Ok, names. Looks like Gus for the B&w guy. He has a little rumble growl that sounds like Gus the bulldog on "Saving Grace" tv show, very cute from tiny fellow. The 2 red boys are meek and mild mannered, smaller and less active than their brother. One must have been the "runt" and has a little limp but is playing more all the time. Sooooo, Niles and Frasier. What do ya all think?
Anyway, I will be getting camera tomorrow and hope to be able to send pictures soon. Thanks again for all the kindness, and these little guys are patching that space in my heart that needs kitties.

Good for you Patricia.. emoticon
Cats always work things out as far as setting up the pecking order and territory etc..
If it wasn't for the damned quarantine rules and all the paperwork and crap that comes along with it, I would have offered you Chloe or Nigel .. or both.
I mean, I have 9.. and either - or both of them would make great house cats.

You did the right thing, Patricia. I'm sure your 3 boys are verry happy now and Pixel will be a proud Grandma after a short time.

Things were settling in as Pix actually seems to enjoy watching the kits antics...but she is 25 and it seems her time is coming soon. She wont eat much if at all, and the vet said it is most lkely serious disease but she does not seem in pain, maybe just a bit queasy. We decided to decline xrays and lab tests as long as she seems comfortable, and will syrynge feed her 4-6 times daily and hope she starts eating again. We are sad but have been expecting this, she has lost 5 close cat friends, 4 in the last 5 years, 2 in the last month. Vet doesnt think it is depression, but something physical and only treatable by painful tests and indignities that we will not put her thru, if it can even be treated. An always dignified and self assured cat, Pixel deserves the easiest time at home we can give her, and we will only be back to the vet for "the shot" if she seems in distress. This has been unbelievably hard for us, but she has always had good health and a fantastically long life, so it is expected. The timing is particularly bad for us, but are glad to be able to spend the time with her to ease her along as peacefully as possible, instead of her staying at the vets away from us and her home. We only hope she passes on peacefully in her sleep, at home. Thank you all for your kindness in words and thoughts. It is harder for Jack and me, but Gus, Niles and Frasier are more than willing to jump into the gap when time comes, and have abundant love to give.

25 is the oldest age that I've personally heard of for a cat..
The oldest that one of mine ever lived was 16.. Grindle was only 11.
All of the current lot are all under 10 - tho it's difficult to guess Willows age - she might be as young as 8 or as old as - who knows..
But here's a page on verified ages of cats throughout the world.
http://www.catplaza.org.uk/cat-and-wiser/Facts-about-old-cats/
It's quite astounding to me.. some verified ages well past 30!
I was also unaware that un-fixed cats can be fertile their entire life..

Amazing little creatures.
If they had opposable thumbs they would rule the world.
They laready rule their own little domains as it is..

they like to sleep too much..I firmly believe that they are not really asleep entirely..they have others places to visit and go when they sleep. this helps keep the cosmic stability. they occasionally go there when awake..when you are searching everywhere for your cat, and you turn back to where you just left and there wasn't a cat there, suddenly there he or she is. com'n you know you all have experienced this. Heinlein called it "walking thru walls" in his book, "The cat who walked through walls" named Pixel ,btw. my vet said the other oldest cat she ever met was named Pixel and was black as night.
yes, i do think Bud went looking for Baby, or was distracted by his loss. my neighbor noted that the last week before Bud's disappearance, he spent hours outside sleeping in Baby's favorite out door spot. we didn't notice because he would spring up when he heard us coming to check on him.
beautiful creatures. miss our lads so much.

I am sorry to take so long to reply..esp as the wee ones are so dang darling. They are fat happy and sassy, as we say down south! Pixel has just yesterday been refusing to eat again...she doesn't seem to be in any pain tho she has a hairball she cant get up so she's been puking a little. She got downright angry and fought me off when i tried to give her the hairball treatment. She is 25 and can do what she wants nor do anything she doesn't want to, so I may try again in a bit but I will only do what she wants. I only hope she doesn't have to leave the house to die...

ok Len how do I get the pictures from the drive without a pic host and if i need a pic host which do you recommend?

I'm a bit confused ... do you mean to transfer them from your camera to your hard drive and then upload them to an image host?

I bypass all the extra steps (Like the cams software program )and just pop out my cams SD mem card, pop it in my PC's SD card reader.
Then either transfer the pics to my Hard Drive for editing, or upload them directly to tinypic.
http://www.tinypic.com

That's all I do.. I use the ACDSee built in Photo Editor for 99% of my image editing.. and have for years.
