Releasing Neck & Shoulder Tension While Sitting at the Computer
These work for me..
Sort of yoga breathing and general stretching.
The breathing seems to be the key..
-----------------------------------------
Sit with your back straight, looking straight ahead..
Both feet flat on the floor.
Hands either palms down, resting on your knees..
Or arms hanging loose at your sides.
-Inhale deeply.
-As you exhale, slowly roll your left ear towards your left shoulder
-Inhale deeply and exhale slowly, rolling your chin down in to your chest..
-Inhale deeply and exhale slowly, rolling your right ear to your right shoulder..
-Inhale deeply and exhale slowly, rolling your chin back to your chest...
Do three or more sets of these...
Variations would be taking a slow deep breath, exhale while turning the head slowly to the right.. Inhale, then exhale while moving your head beck to the center.. then to the left etc..
Or doing the same tilting the head forward then back..
Or by mixing it all up any way you like..
--------------------
Then I end it with shoulder rolls
Inhale slowly and deeply , slowly rolling your shoulders towards your ears..
Then exhale slowly rolling them backwards and downwards..
Do this three times and you'll feel your whole spine as well as your neck and shoulders loosen up very nicely..
Try not to fall asleep..

Re: Releasing Neck & Shoulder Tension While Sitting at the Computer
will try this; i often get neck and shoulder pain when going for a real typing/surfing marathon... it's very much like the first steps on an exercise video i do sometimes, with a man in impossibly small green shorts :acid:
