Owl Painting... This is a painting of Pip the Barn Owl. I photographed him a few years ago and having already drawn him in coloured pencil, thought he would be ideal for my first attempt at oils on canvas:
I tried scanning the painting, but it made it look weird, so I settled for a photo instead. The colours are a bit off, but it's as close as I'm going to get!
Re: Owl Painting... I love your paintings.
Your style reminds me of the Canadian artist Robert Bateman..
Except I think yours are even more realistic.

Re: Owl Painting... Thanks to all three of you!
Len ~ that's a really big compliment saying my work reminds you of Robert Bateman's - thanks! I've had a look at the art on his website, and just love the detail that goes into his backgrounds (when I paint animals, I'm terrible for getting bored when it comes to the background, so it's usually as simple as I can get away with!)
Re: Owl Painting... The nest is so real...Bateman's stuff is awesome, in the true sense of the word. Louise, your work is splendid. Everytime I see one of your paintings, it is like a breath of pure fresh air...keep it going, and please keep posting them.
