I'm re-reading this.. It's an autobiography of this really wild jazz/blues clarinet player / session producer / opium addict / weed dealer from the 1920s, 30s and 40s - Milton "Mezz" Mezzrow.

Originally published in 1946, my copy is a tattered paperback published in 1956 that I picked up at a used book store about 10 years ago for a dollar.
