HELP!

Okay somehow my boyfriend has deleted the audio drivers on his lenova! He has Vista basic home edition. I can't figure out how he has accomplished this,he still gets the annoying BEEP from the system but no other sounds. Nothing out of the headphone jack either! This is driving him and of course now me crazy. Any ideas on how to get it back WITHOUT taking it into a shop somewhere!? emoticon

Re: HELP!

I is possible that the driver of his soundcard isn't installed in the right way. Take the Cd with the drivers and install it again. If you havent a driver Cd have a look at the manual of the PC what kind of soundcard is inside and load the driver down fron the internet.

Re: HELP!

You should be able to restore them by doing 'system restore'

start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore

-select a restore point date from before the date the drivers were deleted..
-do the restore.
-the drivers should be there afterward.

If system restore isn't enabled, google 'soundmax drivers' for your boyfriends make and model of lenovo.
And re-install them manually.

Here's a thread at majorgeeks on this very subject (Deleting lenovo audio drivers) it seems to be a not uncommon thing that happens..
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=152652

Just to be safe, I would run an anti-virus scan and run spybot search & destroy...
You never know..

That's good..
Good old 'System Restore'.. One of the few truly brilliant things Microsoft has ever come up with.
I can never understand why many people disable it.
It can literally save your PC's ass.. emoticon
