Favourite Episode(s)
Figured this was a thread worth resurrecting...
I would still have to put Art Wars at the top, but I watched The Great Outdoors the other day, and I'd forgotten just how good it was. HB and Drill at their best:
Serge: "Who is that woman??"
"I will not agree to forsake the cloth of my calling and parade around half-dressed!"
"I've had to tell Serge that you've trained in some strange Oriental Art of Silent Running..."
I loved the smug look of amusement on HB's face there, while Drill looked ever so slightly frustrated...
And of course, the discussion about the poor man on the bus...
"He spent the rest of the journey trembling in the toilet!"
"Which was both inconvenient and unnecessary..."
Just brilliant!
The Great Outdoors has definitely moved slightly higher in my list of favourites.

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
how did he get up the courage to call her "old love" in the first place?
She wouldn't like London - people keep calling other people "luv" or "darling" all the time - if it's women, otherwise it's just "mate".
I loved the bit when Drill explains to HB that she now features as "maiden aunt"... - eccentric maiden aunt at that...
And when HB rams down her umbrella and hits Drill on the foot...

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
Yes, I did laugh quite a lot while watching that episode! I think every scene with HB and Drill was extremely well done.
I watched Carried Away today - the scenes between HB and Cackle were really good in that one too (not quite as amusing as Drill and HB in The Great Outdoors, but still brilliantly done). I think any scene where we see HB out of her comfort zone tends to be good - the part's just so brilliantly acted out.

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
I was thinking maybe "Old Love" was a literal translation of something in French..
The actor playing Serge is French Canadian.. Maybe it was the English equivelent of some francais phrase..
Oddity: There is no mention of Worst Witch in Patrick Labbe's (Serge) IMDb CV. hmmmm..
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0479412/
Jay Baruchel, (Bean Pole) has gone on to do several series in Canada and the US.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0059431/
I remember him best from PMK (Popular Mechanics for Kids), a Science show he did around the same time as Great Outdoors.. A show somewhat better known now for it's other host.. a very young Elisha Cuthbert ..
I really liked this ep too.. but like I said on the deceased forum, the contrived, idiotic ending sort of spoils it for me.
(The fake snowstorm, Dru's hurt ankle etc..)
It could have been done much better..
Still, it was the first Canadian made ep along with Let Them Eat Cake.. So it is special.

Carried Away
is my favorite. After all, it has cats and boats and did I say cats? Oh, yes and cats.

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
How could HB have been unconscious for as long as she was in Carried Away and not suffer serious brain damage?
And why were the girls dawdling over the found treasure chest whilst HB lay unconscious in the boat?
That was very out of character for Maudie..
I felt bad for Tabby.. I also was shocked that Ethel would set a cat adrift in a river..
I mean I know she's a tad bit self-absorbed and all but cruelty to animals?
Even Drusilla was having second thoughts about the whole thing.

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
But Dru was such a doormat, I'm not too surprised. That's tv for you - a liberal amount of "suspension of disbelief."

I couldn't help thinking along the same lines when I watched it. I couldn't quite believe just how unconcerned they all seemed that she was completely unconscious, especially for the length of time it lasted. And then her miraculous recovery afterwards - if someone had been unconscious for that length of time, you'd have thought they'd have been in an intensive care ward...
*has sudden amusing image of HB in a hospital*

HB in the hospital no way. Could you imagine what she would do to all the males there! :lolfast1:

Re: Favourite Episode(s)
I'm surprised The Heat Is On from series 1 is rarely mentioned as a fave ep.
It is certainly one of the liveliest episodes and features not one but TWO brawls between Drusilla and Mildred.
Also has the classic scene with four witches reclining on a hot tin broom-shed and HB slowly rising up out of nowhere and scaring the hell out of them.. :lolfast1:
