Clare Coulter (as Margaret Neilson) lets Rachel Griffith (as Anne Graham) in on a little secret about her personal life in this scene from a very obscure 1986 Canadian made comedy/drama called 'The Marriage Bed'..
You get to hear Ms. Coulter's real accent.. and of course she's 12 years younger here than she was in the first season of the Worst Witch.
PS. The audio is out slightly out of sync.
This must have happened at youtube's end during the conversion process from avi to flv. Because the original avi clip is perfectly in sync.

It's so strange to hear her speak with a different accent! She did the Miss Cackle accent so perfectly, you'd never have guessed it wasn't her real accent.

Heh.. that's a Toronto/Southern Ontario accent that both her and Rachel Griffiths are using.
That scene was filmed in the Toronto City Hall Library ..

Ms. Coulter moved from Canada to England at age 9... I forget how long she lived there, but children pick up accents so fast..
Could be she used that to come up with her Miss Cackle accent..
I like the way she uses her eyes to express her character's emotions in that scene.
It's quite startling how her eyes flash when she's talking about meeting her former lover.. and just as quickly, the flash is gone when Rachel Griffiths charcter brings her back to earth with the grim reality of the situation..
