8 foot snakes? I'll stop complaining about insects now. Troublesome natives also come in human form. The farmer with the collection of small shacks in the foreground of the above pic used to burn plastic and garbage every Sunday. I finally got him to stop. That's why I dont like having neighbors too close.

Re: kitchen window

I can be sure of the size as they use to slither across a small porch that stepped up to my front door. The porch is 7 foot wide, and I've watched ones that had their head on the ground off one end, and their tail on the ground off the other. Still makes me shiver. Only ever had one come into the house thankfully, but removing him was quite an adventure.

I know that feeling well with the burning of rubish. I lived in India for a year and the locals where I was would dump their rubish into concrete tanks scattered around the streets, and then someone would put a match to it from time to time. The black smoke from all the platic bags was horrible. Of course, what usually happened was the cows would get into the bins and before long everyones rubbish was spread everywhere. That was hard to cope with.

Glad to hear you have 'trained' your neighbour. Well done! :-)

Hi Crayon,

No, didn't build it myself. Wish I had those kinds of skills. Can only make rough yard stuff.

I'd call that a pretty good effort, looks like the kids will have a ball in that tree house for years to come.

Hey JohnE,

A work of art - beautiful !! Thanks for sharing pictures. As soon as we move into our home here I'll be sure to share some project pictures too.

By the way, I'm really falling in love with your backyard....eer, i mean, your backwoods. Love the old stone partition wall too - really ads to it.

Well, let the fort/treehouse games begin.

Hi gecko and Ken,

Glad you liked the treehouse. It's got a riverview over that stone wall. Actually started in in January but didn't finish it till the end of winter. Most of February it was covered in ice and snow, so guess it's strong enough.

Looking forward to your pics when you move in.
