Crows

Never been a fan, and less so when they started eating some of our good stuff. REALLY wanted to buy a plastic dead fake job from Nafco, but was over-ruled by father-in-law, who put up some thin bamboo poles and stretched fishing line between (all above head-height); add a couple of unwanted CD's, and a good crow deterrent, at the cost of nowt.

Re: Crows

Hey KC,

Small varmit eh? Crows are pretty darn smart!! Taking them out may be your only sure-fire option. JohnE posted some good links to cross-bows a while back over at the pot:

http://homepage1.nifty.com/enman/seto/p92/crossbowstable.htm

http://www.omc-safety.co.jp/crossbow_total.html

Or, what about air rifle hunting? I hear they are relatively easy to acquire here in japan..as opposed to getting a hunting rifle/shotgun.

Have a look around this site:
http://www.koalanet.ne.jp/~hms/airgun.htm

and here too:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/hungryhunter/airrifle/index.html

Or check outGUN NUTS!!

Or..

GUN HORSE!!

At any rate, if you're not up for hunting them but just want to know how to beat um' at their game, check this website out:

Re: Crows

I got rid of my crows by making a slingshot. It only took a couple of wild shots and they have gone to easier hunting grounds.

Re: Crows

Pretty comprehensive links there, Ken, cheers, but I have to confess hunting isn't my bag; more of a forager and cultivator.

It's wierd, actually, have killed fish by the many thousand but get all squirmish when it comes to fowl; indeed, our idea of raising chickens came to a "You do it." \"No YOU do it" halt when we were talking aboout wringing necks. Maybe we should have just jankened emoticon
