posticon For the pestle and mortar brigade

Hey all.

Stumbled upon this site whilst doing a bit of research:

"Plants For A Future. Edible, mecidinal and useful plants for a healthier world"

A database which claims to do the above for over 7,000 species. The link provided is for their "Top 20" but the site is eminently explorable.

Not particularly Japan-specific, but an interesting roam nevertheless.

Cheers,

KC

Moringa

Whoa, thanks for this KC. Now it's just a matter of finding out which ones will bode well here.

In relation to your topic....

I posted on this over at gaijinpot a while back:

quote:

Imagine a tree in your backyard that will meet all your nutritional needs, take care of you medicinally, and purify your water for you. This tree actually exists.

Moringa is called ワサビノキ in Japanese and my amaturistic research is underway.

Cheers Ken. I noticed your post on Moringa on the other thread and contacted my bro, who lives in Nepal, to see if he could source some there. Unfortunately, he met with no luck. Curses! I'd love to play around with a couple of those...
