Okay, I HAVEN'T heard the LiL version yet. But the image of the Cal Jam video...those guys just looked like the best Rock band on the earth. Real STARS!
I never recovered from that image.

Live In London gets my vote, the guitar sound is so vicious - it really rips out of my speakers. GH may be a little out of tune, but I seem to think he sounds a little out of tune on most versions I've heard.

Strangely, I notice no-one has voted for the Last Concert In Japan version..... emoticon

I've always considered Lord's comment of Bolin not being "technically accomplished" to refer to stuff like Burn riff, the HS arppeggios (which he didn't play at all)... he simply couldn't play them with precision and attack. He was in a way technically accomplished (as demostrated on Spectrum), but he was not a precise player - one of those otherwise gifted players who just can't play anything complicated or articulated twice.

I like Glenn Hughes's Burning Japan Live version.

I think he nailed the Burn riff every time.

Re: Best live version of "Burn"

few players can actually play RBs riffs properly, on spotlight kid, Burn, SOTW etc between the diads on the D AND G strings he hit the bottom E to give heaviness/dynamics. a lot of people miss this.
