Well, then it again seems that we cannot be sure about the new album being recorded in February. It seems that nothing is planned yet. No studio is booked.

And once again he takes a swing at Blackmore, 16 years after his departure.... Nice going, Gillan! But, hey, we're used to it by now!

Yes really interesting should be a whole new chapter of Ritchie Blackmore digsemoticon
But seriously how many more years is Ian going to have a go at Blackers?I recently watched Ians Journey in rock DVD(its superb by the way)and he comes across as a really decent, friendly and intelligent guy so much so that the bitterness towards Ritchie (which seems to be far in excess of how the other members feel I mean JL is still on friendly terms with Ritchie) seems somewhat out of character I wonder what really went down between those two? seems to me it was alot more than simply two band members not getting on

I think Gillan is bitter because the others sided with RB in the late 1980s (even though IG's resignation was a different case in the 1970s, even then the implication was JL and IP would side with RB if confronted). Then when they asked him back, and RB left as the consequence, Gillan realised he could have been the leader of the band already in the 1980s. Gillan must be happy with what the band has done since the early mid-1990s, but somehow it seems he'd like to if not write RB out of the history of the band then diminish his role in the success of the band down to a person who only did his best to stop the band doing well.

We've already heard from Gillan that he thinks Jeff Buckley was a better guitarist than RB, and that RB was such a Jimmy Page imitator he took an old DP live video to be Led Zeppelin. RB's step mother eats old Purple vinyls for supper. Etc.

Let's see if there's more stuff like that to follow. The pattern over the last years have been such that it will all get heavier than that. For some reason Gillan's not getting over Blackmore, on the contrary, he's bitterness is getting worse as time goes by.

I agree, the DVD is great. The only alienating thing is when they are covering the 1970s, they use clips of the current line-up doing the songs. I'd rather have no videos there at all. E.g. they are talking about being in the Hermitage and you're imagining how it was, and then a cut to a 2000's version of Fireball. It just about kills the 'vibe'.

Totally agree with your point about the 70s footage Rezi why when telling the story of the bands finest period use clips of the current band which is of course missing 2 extremely vital parts(i would say the 2 MOST vital parts)it does as you say kinda lose the "vibe" that aside it is an extremely good package.Heres another point that comes up through the documentary though Ian Gillan has his own dressing room(supposedly for him to meditate before the showemoticon)but then when Blackers had his own dressing room it was perceived to be him being difficult and not wanting to be a team player!!Smells of double standards does it not?

I didn't know that (about Gillan having his own dressing room).

No double standard though: the difference is Gillan is a nice man, Blackmore is not. emoticon

I thought you had watched the DVD?It shows Gillan in his dressing room(his room is always called the UNdressing room) where he explains why he has a room of his own ie to meditate!!utter nonsense if you ask me but who knows? As far as Ian being a nice man and Ritchie not i really am not qualified to say having never met Ritchie. It would appear that Ritchie is not the easiest to work with but whether that makes him an unpleasant man in everyday life then who knows some seem to like him others dont
