2009 tour dates

Get on with announcing them! Deep Purple are worse than the Stones for keeping people in suspense when they know a tour is inevitable.

Re: 2009 tour dates

Too right! I'm anxious to see the UK tour dates for this year. So come on, whoever, get those dates posted.

The only gig I've got lined up this year so far is Ultravox in April, which I'm really looking forward to but may not be everyone's cup tea!(reunion tour btw)

According to Don Airey last night, after his solo show at The Underworld in London, Purple will be playing 3 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo in November.

Great news for those in the South of England emoticon

Thanks, greeneb. I'm happy to hear it is Hammersmith and not Wembley.

Yes. It is a shrewed move going to Hammersmith as they no longer have the fan base to fill Wembley.

If they are really playing three nights at Hammersmith (capacity 3632) that's not much different from one night at Wembley (capacity 12,500).

I never heard what the crowd size was at their London gig last summer. Less than Wembley I would guess but still a few thousand.

Re: 2009 tour dates

By playing one night at Wembley they would quite probably have the big black curtain up partitioning off some of the empty seats again. By playing Hammersmith 3 times they can pretty much guarantee that some fans will go to 2 if not all 3 shows meaning they have more chance of selling out the venue 3 times. That is a pretty shrewed move.
