The Zombies + The Yardbirds 25/5/08
Symphony Hall, Birmingham 25/5/08
A great night. The Yardbirds were very much rhythm & blues based and entertaining. They even did a version of LZ's 'Dazed and Confused' which was superb (apparently harking back to the time when Jimmy Page was in the band).
And the Zombies were on top form. I've seen them three times in the last couple of years and they really are brilliant. Colin Blunstone is a fantastic front man (very understated but with a magnificent voice) and Rod Argent really can tinkle those ivories! And the rest of the band are excellent and so proud to be there. If you get a chance, go and see these guys.

Dazed And Confused is actually Yardbirds' song from the time Page was a member.
Oh, sorry, it's actually a song by a fellow named Jake Holmes but Page took the credit for it.

Re: The Zombies + The Yardbirds 25/5/08
This tour is really annoying me! I've got no interest in the Yardbirds but I've seen every Zombies tour for the last few years. Now they want me to pay double the usual ticket price to see the Zombies play a short "double-headliner" set?
It's the same kind of tour package that Deep Purple have been stuck in recently, and I wish they'd stop it!
Ah well... thanks for the review, good to hear that Colin and Rod are still on form

David, it was a short set (1hr 15mins) but really good. Even my 14 year-old son was impressed, especially with Colin Blunstones
's vocals.

Almost went to this but changed my mind. A few gigs coming up so I had to prioritise.
Sounds like a great gig though. Off to see Stephen Stills at the Symphony Hall in October. Good venue?

rahul - it's a very nice venue. Great acoustics, comfy seats and not too big. And Broad Street has some good pubs and bars for a pre-gig drink. And if you like Indian food try Shimla Pinks, especially the buffet on a Sunday night!

Birmingham's Symphony Hall is a superb venue with modern specially-designed acoustics. I've seen rock and orchestral concerts there and they've sounded perfect.
The only place I've been in that's better is The Sage in Gateshead
