Knights

How hospitable are the Calad Mountains? I would like to look at an Order of Knights that make their home there. Would it be possible?

Is there an Order of Knights in Eryndor Yet?

Re: Knights

Currently, we do not really recognize "knighthood" in Eryndor...much like others would not recognize Hunterhood... However, if that is your thing, COOL! Do it!

There are a few things to keep in mind.

1) Knighthood is generally considered a Christian thing, and our world christianity does not really exist.

2) Eryndor does not have chapter ranks. There are the ranks of recruit, fighter, hunter, hero that are generally accepted by some units. But some units choose to not follow that standard and have their own ranking systems.

3) If this is something you are interested in then realize that you have 2 options. First make it like the traditional knighthood but make it TOTALLY seperate from eryndor made up world. OR Make this your own idea away from traditional knighthood but conforming to the eryndor made up world (much like athron is doing with eryndor's paladins and Gordun did with "Knights of the Shining Cloth"). However, the second option is generally frowned upon but people who are "hardcore" into the traditional knighthood that exists in foam fighting. The good news is, in Eryndor we encourage creativity and do not care much about how other people may preceive our rankings or unit names (goes back to my orginal comment about how we do not recognize knighthood... other than acknowledging their hard work and determination, we do understand that a lot of hard work goes into that and praise people for that).

Re: Knights

I would politely disagree with the idea that knighthood is necessarily tied to Christianity. While it happened that the Crusades became an outlet for many displaced knights during the Middle Ages, the origin of knighthood has little to do with Christianity and more to do with feudalism and the conscription of kings, particularly Charlemagne. Knights were typically well-trained middle-class men who were asked to fight for a Lord or King, in return for the rights to land or wealth. While the church certainly had great influence over the rulers at this time, the central ideas surrounding knighthood could be applied to any feudalistic society with a ruler who needed loyal, honorable and valiant fighters, and could fit perfectly well into Eryndor's world. Think of them like the Samurai in Japan or the Mamluk of the Middle East. Thus ends my priggish historical digression. emoticon

You just need a king of some sort...with that in mind...talk to Marathos?

Re: Knights

For Eryndor Storyline I was thinking of an Order of Knights or warriors that follow a Code of Chivalry, which would be quite similar to a historical Knights Code.

Awesome Marathos.. Order of the Lion. I likes it...

Do Lions exist on the Continent?

As for a King, im working on it ;p Depends on Marathos really, id like to know more about the duindor Knights, but he hasnt replied to my PM... ;p

Sayid for the Al-Andalus Arabs, Cataphracts for the Persians, and Mamluks for the Fatamid dynasty. Just to name a few of the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

Re: Knights

I like the whole idea of knights in eryndor and I think if they had their own place where they were taught the "code" and so forth would be an interesting twist to go with the paladins. On side note to answer Jostal's question on lion's the Covewoods have a type of lion its more of a couger with a rusty orange coat, leapord spots, and a shorter mane on the male's. =) thought I'd throw that in there.
