Light applications of dap. Minimal duct tape, if any at all. Thin fabric covers. One layer of hockey tape around the courtesy, handle, and pommel.
Tons of ways to make a weapon lighter. Best way? Minimal duct tape, THIN layers of dap. (A little dap goes a long way.)

Re: In dire need of some help to make lighter weapons
1. There is no need to take apart your first clubs, in my experience salvaging the foam from a club is very hard to do, it would be easier just to make new ones.
2. It sounds like you are on the right track with the golf club cores, I personally make my clubs with a 28 in core, but both of those will work also and most likely make for so good variety.
3. Depending on how much dap and foam you use, you might need to weight them cause they will probably be under weight.
