R Trent 11/8/08
Had my second visit to the Trent. The river was a nice colour, up slightly but it fell approx 6in through the day.
My mate fished peg 1, I was on peg 2. Both fishing the same methods. A feeder rig down the side, leger approx 1/3 across. The feeder rig consisted of a mix of hemp, buck wheat and wheat. Hook bait was a boilie. Leger rig, a simple running rig, pellet hook bait and pva bags of mixed pellet for feed.
A lot of weed was coming down the river. Which meant the rigs were continually being fouled. Despite this Bill had the first take as usual a savage take. The fish managed to go through a snag, after what seemed ages. Giving slack line, tightening up etc., The inevitable seemed the only course of action. So a break was pulled for, the fish came free. A nice Barbel of 8lb 7oz graced the net.
A short but very deep fish.
I struggled on.
We took a short break by walking the river and chucking a few lures about. Nothing. Followed by a meal break.
At last the rod top went over I was in, only to have this fish snag me up. A repeat of the other fish. I managed to get it clear and a Barbel of 6lb 2oz the reward.
A good result for Bill his first barbel in many years and a pb.
