Knots

I have had to change my use of knots this year. After praising the palomar I have had no end of trouble and lost several good barbel, after the line parted just above the knot. The brakage occured just above the hook where the knot tightens down.

I dont know if its me doing something wrong, the line or what. I changed the knot to a grinner and out comes a 9lb+ barbel no problem.

Re: Barbel Fishing

I bought myself a new camera case whilst on holiday and I haven't put my little adaptor in it yet. I couldn't have used it anyway because I didn't even take a rod rest just the rod, landing net and small amount of tackle just incase of misshaps. I wanted to be able to move if the fish got spooked or weren't feeding.

Just a quick update. Barbel fishing very slooooooooow. I had 4 chub last week biggest 3lb 11oz.
Yesterday was worse a couple of quick jerks of the tip then nothing might have been chub. There again might easily of been rubbish catching the line.
I did manage one fish a very high spirited fast running pike of 6lb 8oz. On float legered sardine.
