Steven King

Possibly the greatest horror writer of our generation? That question I’m sure will be answered by the rebuttal posts to this thread, but with such classic works as The Thinner, Rose Madder (add your own fav title *here*) and an endless list that would probably overfill the post limit, how the hell does he do it?

I wouldn't agree. IMHO King is vastly overrated. Some of his earlier stuff was unquestionably brilliant, but his lost his way in recent years. Ramsey Campbell and Clive Barker, among others, are far better writers, in my view.

One of my favourite King films, although not a horror as such was Stand by me. I must admit though that horror films are not my cup of tea but I do watch them if people have told me that they are really good.

Horror films in general are so predictable it makes me sick, but the odd one can be good, Scream was one that bent the rules, the whole series pushed boundries for the genre in terms of film.

I've always admired Stephen King, but I've been disappointed with his last few books. Clive Barker is good. I just read one of his books a few months ago, but I can't remember the name..was a good though
