Need a Lead name!

Now, i've got a great idea for a story but can't seem to think of the right name for my lead character. He is strong of mind and also body, so not something like “Butch” but also he has a gentler caring side for animals. The story is horror by genre and is set around Victorian times. But I don’t want your standard Victorian name like Edward. This guy is ancient, so it should be old. Any suggestions? First and surname if you can think of both.

Bloody hell, that is interesting. Well you’ve done a good job of filling us in on what you want. I’ll really have to do a bit of research to be honest with you mate, i don’t want to give stupid/bad suggestions, give me a day and i’ll have some for you.

i hate when i can not find the right name for a book character. have you looked on the internet for name genrators they sometimes work good.
