Two’s Company, Three’s a crowd. *Completed* (part 3/5)
Title: Two’s Company Three’s a crowd.
Author: Kevin Martin
Rated: 18+ (constant vulgarisms, violence, adult orientated sexual content and graphic descriptions) **Do not continue if you are easily offended**
Author's note: Well, the story keeps on evolving, this was meant to be the third and final part, part 3, but I’ve gotten into such debt that I couldn’t now finish it in three parts, so I’m going to have to make 4 maybe even 5! This was the hardest to write so far because of the greater amount of narrative and increased characters, but it was for sure the most exhilarating!
The sun was falling from grace so captivatingly that it was more sobering than the strongest coffee. Claire bowed her head, and kissed Simon seductively on the cheek, Simon responded by shoving his alcohol-drenched tongue down her throat. Claire pulled away, turning to Sara who passed her the bottle of JD, she took a swig, and another, before returning to her bout of tonsil wresting.
Sarah chuckled, and turned to Josh, “You o.k.” she said, sliding her hand onto the gear stick, clasping Josh’s fingers between hers, Josh looked over and smiled. He was never much of a talker, but his face, his warm smile, well it told Sarah all she needed to know. She looked to the sky, it was perfect, a few clouds were starting to gather, but white stars were now appearing on the mass of blue velvet.
Finally Josh slowed the car and pulled off the road onto a dirt track that was all but indecipherable to the naked eye. The car bounced around erratically, passing under the canopy of trees so that all around was pitch black, Josh took a left onto another dirt track, in ever worse state than the previous. And then they were there. The trees parted like a veil being lifted at the opening to a Broadway show, moonlight took the place of the spot lights and shone onto the stage, a perfectly green dale, which was surrounded by trees, and at the uppermost corner had a brook, whose crystal water shone like an assortment of gems in the night as they meandered engagingly from point a to b.
Josh drove for a brief while onto the lush grass of the dale, before stopping the car, turning the engine off and hopping out, stretching, holding his pose with arms aloft and taking a deep breath of the late evening air. Sarah made her way around the bonnet, and stood beside Josh, finding his hand again and clasping it gently, “Your right, it’s beautiful.” she said, resting her head on his shoulder. Josh brought his arms down, and held Sarah, tightening his grip on her hand.
“Yeah Beautiful…” Simon said in a mock English accent, digging his shoulder into the back of Josh and handing him the JD. “…and it will be even more beautiful when you get some of this down your neck..”
Josh turned to Sarah and gave her a smile, she smiled back, he opened the JD and took a swig, vile stuff!
“So where we setting up this tent of yours?” Simon said eagerly, snatching the JD back off Josh.
“Pick a spot,” Josh said, opening the boot to his Chevrolet and unloading the tent, cool box (full of beer) and blankets.
“I say right over there…” Simon said, pointing towards a fallen tree on the end of the forest.
“Why so close to the forest?” Sarah quizzed in a voice that was almost trembling.
“What! Don’t tell me your scared? Scared of a little bit of forest!” Simon said, pushing his face up close to Sarah, who could smell his breathe, which reeked of alcohol.
“Right where we are now will do fine.” Josh said sternly, pushing the tent into the gut of Simon. “And you can set that up, considering it’s my car that got us here, and my beer that your going to be drinking all night!”
“But who’s prized sausages are we gonna be eating?” Replied Simon, his drunken eyes glistening in the ever-darkening night. “Don’t stress, you two love birds relax, I consider it my forte, setting up tents!” Simon said, in an attempt to sound intelligent, but the way he slurred his words meant it just came across as drunken babbling! “You can help though…” Simon said, turning to Claire and chucking the tent her direction.
Sarah directed Josh across the dale; she led the way, hands linking her to Josh, and Josh sauntering just behind. Every now and then vulgarisms could be heard coming from Claire and Simon in the distance, each time brining a synchronized chuckle from Sarah and Josh. The pair reached the brook, which was bigger and fuller than it appeared from a distance. The water flowed elegantly, Josh looked at his dim reflection, his blonde hair appeared to be flowing with the water. Sarah stood beside, smiling, as happy as she had ever been. Josh moved his hand up the side of Sarah’s face, turning it so he could look her in the eyes. The pair connected, their heads neared, and lips met.
Sarah’s heart faltered, almost as if it had stopped, her stomach tingled, like it was being gently caressed by thousands of soft feathers. But the moment ended there, wolf whistles from Simon, coupled with shouts of “Get in their Josh” broke the clasp. Josh smiled again to Sarah, and the pair hugged, before making their way back to the car.
The tent was erect, to an extent. It was lopsided, and one of the poles appeared to be snapped, or close to snapping, but it was up! Josh put the hood back up on the Chevy, and locked the door. Darkness was now overwhelming, and eagerly Simon went into the forest to get some wood, coming back with a small, but recently felled, tree!
“How the hell did you get that!?” Josh said aghast.
“Came prepared...” Simon said with a smile on his face, pulling a machete from behind his back.
“WHAT!” his three friends said simultaneously.
“Ah chill out guys, it’s only a machete, it’s not like i brought a shotgun with me!”
“Just keep it hidden and keep it from where it can cause any bloody danger.” Josh said, standing up and getting the spare petrol-canister from his boot. He snatched the tree from Simon, scowling at him as he done so, and went about snapping some of the smaller branches off the main trunk.
The four companions were sat close around the fire as it crackled under the growing darkness. It was midnight, or there about, Josh and Sarah had been talking about music for the last hour and Claire had been mumbling in the ear of a disinterested Simon as she supped her way through more and more JD. Finally Simon spoke, loud enough to stop all other conversations in there tracks. “This place is so beautiful, you wouldn’t believe some of the stuff that is said to have happened in these woods!”
“Oh don’t even try it Simon.” Sarah said resolutely.
“What, this isn’t rubbish, Josh will tell you, he was the one that told me the story!” Simon replied.
“It’s only a rumour, Simon, something some sad geezer made up on the Internet to try and stop people coming here.” Josh said, “Just drop it.”
“No, come on, you’ve got to tell the story, right Claire.” Simon said nudging Claire.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s right, come on Josh tell us.” Claire replied, falling forward onto her elbows.
“Look, outnumbered Sarah, 2-1”
“2-2” Josh said.
“Ah come on mate, don’t be a freaking arsehole, just tell the god dam story, if it isn’t true what harm will it do?”
“Alright already, if it will stop your mortaring!” Josh looked to Sarah, “you o.k. with this” She nodded a sombre reply.
“This woods,” Josh began suddenly, making all the others instantly become more alert. “Is said to be filled with a terror that should have died with the dinosaurs. Over time, more and more accounts have been popping up, on the Internet, in papers, of panther attacks.”
“Whooow Scary,” Claire mocked.
“BUT.” Josh said raising his voice, “These aren’t panther attacks at all, they are something much worse. Time and time again experts say that no panther could strike blows as powerful as these, and time and time again reports of missing people, who entered this forest, appear simultaneously! The authorities know something is odd about these woods, because why would they send two of the most elite WEREWOLF hunters here!”
“Werewolves?!” Claire laughed, “Come on Josh you can do better than that, what a pile of twaddle!”
“Maybe,” Josh said, his voice staying calm and authoritative, “But these reports, they always happen at the same time, when the Moon is full.” Josh stopped and pointed to the sky, “All eyes looked up together, tonight was a full moon.
“Josh stop…” Claire and Sarah gasped in unison.
Josh laughed, as easy as that, he said giving a high five to Simon.
Two hours later, and if it wasn’t for the fire offering a victorious circle of light, it would be pitch black, Simon was cooking his sausages, fire now much larger after he had added several larger faggots of wood. Claire was lay flat on her back, mumbling about “stars”, empty bottle of JD to her side, she was obviously drunk. Josh and Sarah just sat, backs to the fire, holding hands, with blanket spread over both of their knees. Josh was starting his fourth can of Stella, and as yet Sarah hadn’t touched a drop of anything remotely alcoholic. She was looking as beautiful as ever, natural, no make up, hair long and mousy brown, lips firm, skin clear, blue eyes offering an eternal depth that was unmatched. Josh stroked her hair softly, savouring every strand as it passed through his fingertips. Sarah took hold of his hand as it got to her shoulder; she leant across and whispered in his ear.
“But what about the Werewolves?” Josh replied mockingly, Sarah smiled a reply. The pair got up, and walked back towards the brook.
Simon continued to talk to Josh, and mock Sarah. It was at least 10 minutes before he had even noticed the pair had gone, he walked around the parameter of the fire before turning and seeing Claire’s legs protruding out of the entrance to the tent. “Great, just bloody great. Come all this way, Josh gets laid and I’m here, cooking 12 sausages that no bugger is going to eat, and talking deep philosophical stuff that only a demented passed out bimbo can hear!” He walked to the cool box and cracked open another can of Stella, his sixth of the night. “May as well make a night of it,” He said aloud again, toasting himself, his cooking, and his good looks!
It took what seemed an eternity for Sarah and Josh to reach the brook again, but finally they did, it’s gentle sound soothing in the night air, which was remarkably cold and the warmth of the fire seemed a long distant memory. Sarah stopped and turned Josh to face her, she pulled his head towards her and their lips met again, the memory of earlier that day this time bought back to the forefront of her mind, her knees were week, she trembled, a combination of the cold and excitement. Josh’s hands began to wonder, they were warm, soothing. The pair fell to the floor, a purge of limbs fumbling around in the dark. Josh unbuttoned Sarah’s blouse, her bosoms were perk, nipples erect. The warmth generated by the two bodies formed a mellow mist that rose as gently as the pair were treating each other. The moment ended again, wolf cries, louder and clearer than they thought even Simon could produce, and then nothing. Josh laughed out of frustration, but Sarah grabbed his head again, and they continued.
Simon sat up sharp; he instantly made for the Machete he had put beside the fire. Even if this was a prank of Josh’s he wasn’t prepared to risk it! He looked over to Claire, still dead to the world! He grabbed a large branch from the fire, and started wilding it like a sword. “Come on then you b@stard.” He said, his voice inadvertently muffled with fear. Claire turned in her sleep, Simon looked to the tent, closed his eyes and looked back around. As he did so he felt his arm become wrenched in a vice like grip, and before he knew it he was trust through the air, spinning, twisting and landing with a sickening thud on his back. The burning branch came to rest on the tent, and slowly the flame spread across the silicone-coated fabric. Simon began to shriek, a hi-pitch whaling, his arm was sliced almost in two, blood was sprouting like a fountain, turning the grass around him a vibrate red under the orange light of the fire. Claire woke, kicking out of the burning tent she turned to the whaling Simon and stood stunned.
Sarah was moaning, her hips were rising and falling in an inadvertent rhythm, she gripped Josh tightly with her thighs. The pair held each other’s stare, and closed their eyes together; Josh’s warm body fell across Sarah’s. They stay entwined for a few minutes, before Josh pulled his trousers up, and put his T-Shirt back on. Sarah just watched, smiling. Before Josh could react a powerful hand was clasped around his mouth, “don’t say a word.” A voice whispered in his ear, “Stay quiet, stay calm,” the same voice said aloud. “If you want to live listen to every single word I say.” The voice was soothing and stong, but Sarah whimpered, Josh nodded silently.
“You are in grave danger. A terror beyond your wildest dreams has been riled tonight, and it is intent on destroying everything in its path.” The man released Josh, “That fire, is that yours?” The man said, pointing towards the fire with a strange looking weapon, it looked like a crossbow.
“Yes, but…” A sudden realisation hit Josh, “Simon, Claire” he said in a whisper. Before the man could grab Josh was off, running as fast as his legs could carry him towards the fire.
“Wait…come back,” The man went to make after Josh, but stopped, he offered a hand to Sarah as she re-buttoned her top. “Stay close,” he said, setting off in pursuit of Josh, making sure Sarah was always close behind.

Re: Two’s Company, Three’s a crowd. *Completed* (part 3/5)
Thanks Daz. I totally see what you are saying. Writing the first two parts I had no intention of writing another, and another, and another, lol, so I had to have a beginning middle and end to them. Now I’m leaving gaps and questions for the reader, so they have to read the next part to cure their curiosity. Thanks for your compliments, a few people from another forum have said similar things, i was accused of being "overly" descriptive in certain parts, which is a just accusation, but i want to be renowned as a "descriptive" writer. That isn't to every readers taste, but it's what i like to read, and i write for other people like me.
