Re: Important Breaking News: -
This week marks a significant shift in the world for me. I've sold my home and for the first time since I was 12 years old will find myself living outside of the orange curtain. It's been a great 11 years here and while I will still reside in Southern California it does evoke quite a sentiment departing from the one place I've held residence for longer than three years. I was the only one of my four brothers and sisters to start and finish high school in the same town and though I have lived as a troubadour for many years now I will miss coming back to the fog and smell of sea salt. As I've written before I am still close with the friends I've grown up with here and without question there will be a huge part of me that I leave behind. Just driving these beach towns I see pieces of my life stretched over every inch and mile. There isn't a patch of road from San Clemente to Huntington Beach that doesn't hold a memory for me. From my high school days cruising these towns and raising a little hell every now and again, to playing club shows at the Coach House and Chain reaction. With everything in transit I was able to finally write a record that was as much an autobiography as it was a detailed account of my love for a town that has seen me through good and bad. In the wake of my cancer this was the air that filled my lungs and brought me back to life. The world as I know it began for me here. Even as my travels took me for months at a time, this place became my sanctuary, the one spot I could slow down and breathe deeply. For as many places as I lived growing up, this will always be my hometown. It took a while for me to find but I'm certainly glad I did.

Enough to Make the Head Spin
I feel like so much has happened since I last posted that I will skip the eloquent for the informative today.
THE UPDATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. We are confirming headlining tour dates at a fever pitch for the upcoming Sep/Oct TOUR FOR THE CURE with COPELAND, THE HUSH SOUND and DAPHNEY LOVES DERBY... The tour is going to be insane and I really think everyones going to love the bands on this package. We're finally going to be able to take out some cool production and really hone a sweet headlining set with lots of memorable moments, so make sure you're there.
**As always we recommend you get tix in advance, which you can do at this special presale site
http://www.jacksmannequin.tickets.musictoday.com
When the presales are through you can grab tickets at www.ticketmaster.com
**This tour is very close to my heart as it will be during Leukemia Awareness Month. It will be called the TOUR FOR THE CURE and the majority of the profits from tickets sold will go towards the DEAR JACK FOUNDATION, which I am creating to assign funds to Leukemia and Cancer charities as well as medical research and community outreach programs. I think it is important for me to give back to those who have helped keep me on this earth and I would like to use whatever power I have to try and keep others diagnosed with cancer here with us as well. I like knowing that when people buy tickets for these dates they are also doing something to make the world a little better for someone in need. SO BUY A LOT OF TICKETS PLEASE!!!!...HAHAHA
THESE WILL BE THE LAST HEADLINING SHOWS SCHEDULED FOR 2006 AND AT LEAST THE FIRST PART OF 07 SO WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOU ALL BEFORE WE TAKE A BREAK. PLUS HEY, WHATS A TOUR WITHOUT YA'LL :)
2. On another note we wrapped shooting on the Dark Blue video this week. I really think it's going to blow peoples minds. Without giving too much away, it all takes place at the end of the Venice pier circa 1950. It really was a magical shoot and I can't wait for you all to see it. Everyone involved worked so hard to make it happen and I am extremely pleased. I hope to have a cut up within 3-4 weeks.
3. Some SoCo news...A few mornings ago NASA ground control woke the flight crew of the space shuttle by playing "The Astronaut" off of SC's Leaving Through the Window album. As most of you know I am mildly obsessed with space and I consider it a high ranking achievement that one of my tunes has made it there. The whole band was so fired up I just had to share it with you all. I'll try and get the news footage up somewhere when I have a chance.
4.Coming Soon:
*Jack's Mannequin sheet music
*Japanese tour dates in January...otherwise being referred to as the Japanuary Tour.
*River Apparel-A boutique clothing line that will launch online by summers end. Going to be beautiful.
*I am launching a small imprint with an indie label. I hope to find some serious rockstars with some serious talent. If you all come across any special unsigned bands bring a cd to one of our shows and I'll check it out
*Lastly, some tweaks are being made to freshen up the jacksmannequin.com site, so keep checking back.
Thats all for now
Much Love to All

IF All Else Fails - Dye your hair black! And thats just what I did. In a anti-climactic return to my original fake hair color, Jack's Mannequin finally feels complete again. In some ways it's like last year never happened. I feel like I just stepped out of the twilight zone or some weird movie where they freeze your body and revive you in some other era in history. I met a woman on an airplane today. She was the youngest person over 80 I have ever known. We spoke for a couple of hours and when it was through she told me she loved me and that I should see a shrink. Now I usually would have taken offense to such advice on most days, but in some strange way I felt a strong connection to this woman and took it for what it was worth. Nevertheless, she seemed understanding when I told her I prefer keeping my demons locked up in hopes of more conflicted songwriting. She wanted to hear one of my songs so I played her this new thing I've been working on. I was a little nervous as it was overtly sexual and well, she was over 80. When she finished listening she looked at me a little confused and asked "did you just sing 'what gets you off?'" To which I nodded and apologized for my fairly racy track selection. Still, I wasn't that shocked when she followed up with "thank god, somebody should be talking about sex these days." It got pretty interesting from there, but the long and short of it is, sometimes people can shock the hell out of you, so dont be shy on airplanes, or anywhere for that matter.
