HawkEye in Football?

What's your view? Will it spoil the game, take away the "pub" arguments that make the game what it is? Or now, with so much money at stake if you win or lose, is it totally 100% essential we get these kind of decision right? HawkEye Video

I think it is long overdue to be honest. The video referee in Rugby (Union and League), is invaluable! I don't think it would take away the debate or banter, I think there'll always be that element of "that was crap, the camera is useless, no way did it cross the line" etc

Yeah i agree, it's long overdue. I think purely because of the cash involved on a dodgy decision, but not just any dodgy decision, a 100% yes or no decision, it either DID cross the line, or DIDN'T! No conjecture, no debate. It's a matter of fact not interpretation, so yeah, i think we need to get as many of these decisions right as possible in modern football. Your comparison with Rugby League is a good one, you still get some debate, but to be honest the decision in Rugby League is a slightly trickier one BUT it does mean now so many decisions are got right, that before would have been wrong.

I personally think it would take away a lot of the animosity in crowds too. Ok, I can't see how they're going to do a "big screen replay" like they do in Rugby League, I think if it's just a case of "the video ref says so", then it may still cause that certain element of ugliness in the pubs around the grounds.

Yeah the big screen would be a nice idea, hard to implement though i agree. But still, sooner rather than later if you ask me.

i have to go along the same line as what you two are saying it should be done the technology is there so why not use it to make sure things are gotten right in big games but what about lower league games such as conference?
