David Eddings rocks! i was hooked on the mallorean series until the end and even then i wanted more ;) however, his style is predictable but never the less enjoyable. Traditional characters with interesting twists i personally like 'silk' fantastic character

Ive read the mallorean and the belgariad and enjoyed every moment of them
shame that they only lasted a week (i got a bit too involved)

I really enjoy Edding's work, especially when I only want some light reading (as opposed to the stuff someone like Robert Jordan writes). In fact the simplicity of his stories are often ridiculed, the best being the book-a-minute summaries:
