Oh right, a battle, great.

So i take the side of Fantasy, personally, both writing and reading. I’m not sure if it’s technically any different, I’ve never even tried to write a Sci-Fi novel, but from what I see the basic traits are the same. Creativity obviously being the main one in both fields, but I also think you can add more reality to a Fantasy story. Basically what I mean is you can write a Fantasy Novel set in 1000ad, and you can have Knights and Kings, Realms, Battles…then add a Dragon to “Fantasise” the tale, also a Wizard or two, some magic. A Medieval tale with Fantastical twist.

Sci-Fi can have the same slight twisting aspects can it not?

No i don't really think it can. If you image, writing a story in 1993 New York, everybody fine, everybody going about their normal lifes. Then one guy suddenly has a Laser, seems odd...then again maybe it's just me.

im not quite sure. i think a like them both the same, but in a different way for each. i like fantasy because i think it seems more history-like in a way. one of my favorite quotes is "writing fantasy is simply writing the history for an undiscovered world." i like that idea
then i like sci-fi also. mainly because it gives off the feeling of an alternate modern world. i like thinking of things like, what would happen if this was like this rather than how it actually is? just the fact that its more modern feeling i guess.

That's the quote mate, i think "history-like" is what i like about it, coming from England we have a rich medieval history, so fantasy is almost like another take on some wonderful British folktales.

I would say science fiction. Because you are creating things from unknown and have to do a lot of research into the basic logistics of things. Fantasy has less boundaries and fewer rules. A wizard can create a dragon and it be put down to “magic” if however a time travel device is used in science fiction you’d have to get some summary of how it worked.

Same as Papier Mache...

About the first question, I will have to say fantasy to both of them... For none other reason that I've just never liked sci-fi, don't know why, I've just never felt attracted to reading or writing it... emoticon

I now have a question fitting of this topic. Has there ever been a book written were you have fantasy characters like Wizards and Dragons, but in a modern time, for example 2100 New York city?
