Mission #2 *Together: Dawn of Survival*

Nevar looked over onto the new village of Conta. It had been a whole 3 weeks since they arrived at this safe haven. The Gnomes had built many houses, a town hall, a healer's shack, a small market, and many other places. The designing was done by Shira and Lune, Wren and Aurora helped with construction, while Rorqale and Nevar helped build a barracks, simple wooden city wall, a boat for the river, and a few watchtowers. Demons were now attempting to get to the group. It seems they were drawn by the Goddesses. Rorqale and Nevar fortunatly were able to fend them off easily.

It was night, Nevar and Rorqale had just returned from hunting. The Gnomes could now survive without the group's help. They stopped and looked around. Nevar noticed Rorqale admired Shira as he did Lune. Although sometimes Nevar's dragon blood made him violent, he cared a lot for Lune. But he knew Lune did not love him back... and he kept getting this odd feeling that Shira kept watching him... watching his image as if it were familiar to her...

Nevar and Rorqale went to the centre of the town where the group sat around a fire. They sat down as well and Nevar saw Rorqale look into the fire. Nevar on the other hand began to polish his sword.

"So what do we do now?" Nevar asked while polishing his sword.

Re: Mission #2 *Together: Dawn of Survival*

Rorqale rework from his trance, the fire had somehow encapsulated him, maybe the memories of the destruction of the Valley of the Gnomes was brought back to the forefront of his mind by the violent flickering of the fire, or maybe it was far more of a traumatic experience than he had first thought.

He picked up his drink, sipped it slowly, and turned to face Nevar as the man, now fully recovered from his heroic exploits as the Dragon, spoke. "So what do we do now?"
Rorqale looked to each of his comrades, who were looking to each other much the same way, and with the same coy expression. At length he spoke sternly, and a with selfishness and harshness apparent through his aura, “The Goblins will scatter now?” Rorqale asked, looking back to Nevar, Nevar appeared to nod slowly…”then i shall go hunt every last one of them, until they are all dead!”…The bitterness of Rorqale’s loss all those years ago, became rife again as he saw the Goblins mindless destruction only three short weeks ago.

Rorqale stood to his feet, and a scower rippled across his face until it was a glowering face of pure anger and rage. He went to turn, fully intent on leaving his comrades and hunting the goblins, but Shira grabbed his hand gently, and without even saying a word, the look she gave Rorqale made the rage leave him instantly, he looked again to his comrades, allies, friends! They needed him now, and he would stay.

Rorqale cleared his voice and spoke again, “Well, it is apparent the evil of this land is rising again, possibly greater then it ever has before.” Rorqale looked to Nevar, “even with the obvious power you possess, my friend, we cannot withstand the onslaught alone, we need help, but where from? And from whom? Is what I don’t know.” Rorqale now peered to Aurora and Wren, “I have for ever been a solitary warrior, I have no allies apart from those who sit before me, I can fight, I can lead…but I have nothing to lead!” He stood now in the firelight, it flickered around his face causing shadows to swim around his features. “We must find help, and that is where I can no longer be of service to you, I know nobody who can help us, what say you?” Rorqale quizzed looking to his friends, one at a time, and resting finally on Nevar.

Re: Mission #2 *Together: Dawn of Survival*

About the time Nevar and Rorqale had been talking of this whole ordeal Wren was doing some research her self. She had left Aurora back at the cabin they had been staying in. She did not want anyone to know what she was about to do. She went into a forest type of area a bit out of the way so no one would hear this either. She figured with the events coming up she would need to bring her magic out sooner or later. She picked a rather large tree as her target. She held her hand out and closed her eyes. a few seconds later a stream of light came out of her palm and hit the tree. The tree fell over being cut clean off its roots. She opened her eyes and looked at the damage she had done. She was satisfied that she still had her magic with her. She practiced a few more shots and once she had it to the point where she was satisfied she left back to the cabin.

On her way back she thought of all that had been happening and in a way it seemed so familiar, but why? After a few minutes she realized why she had remembered it before. It was in one of the old history books one of the Druids had let her read. She was very much interested in history and had practically begged for him to let her read it. Being her friend he finally let her read one about the Great Wars. This is how the last Great War started last time or at least it was very similar to it. Most of that army was stuck in that blade she had also read about. The Sword of the Dragon? It was supposed to be used by a god but was best used by a dragon god and he was not likely to help in this fight, at least not thier side. She figured Aurora would know at least some of this at least she hoped, if this was so they could easily figure out what they were going to need to do next in helping the Gnomes and perhaps the rest of the lands if she was correct. It was now more obvious than ever they would have a war on their hands and they were stuck right in the middle of it!

Re: Mission #2 *Together: Dawn of Survival*

"I do not cooperate with mortals." Nevar sneered. Lune gave him a glare and Nevar held himself back from insulting the group. "I have no need to fight this... evil. I am a dragon, and my actions determine the course of the world."

"Nevar..." Lune spoke. "Remember... Three are anew. Four are cursed..." Lune noticed everyone looked confused except for Shira and Nevar.

"I know Lune." Nevar said in a cold tone. "I know...
'Three dragons born to be alive for all time.
Three dragons to die in a mist of battle.
Three dragons to be born to be alive once more.
Four become cursed as the new dragon awakens.
And in divinity they rest.'
I know that poem all too well Lune. I know I am the reason for disaster, and I would you give up trying to make me feel guilty about it... because I do not!" Lune looked at Nevar, then turned and looked into the fire with stern eyes.

"Nevar... The gods imprisioned you because-"

"Because they are afraid of my power, I know!" Nevar snapped.

"No Nevar!" Lune shouted and stood up, Lune rarely lost her temper but this was one of those times. "The gods imprisioned you to keep the world safe. The gods fear you, and also care about you and do not want to see you destroy yoursefl!" Lune sat back down once more calm and looking into the fire.

"The gods care nothing for me..." Nevar said. "They created me... gave me their powers... betrayed my trust... and then imprisioned me." Nevar stood up and began walking away. "I will not be a puppet of the gods! Damn them all to the depths of hell!" Nevar walked through the village and leapt over the river, and disappeared into the night. Lune sat there and sighed heavily.

'Dragon blood... War... Immortality... All of these factors cause Nevar's behavior.' Lune thought. 'There was however... a time... when Nevar felt peace... so very... very... long ago...'

Aurora looked at the dragon as he fought with Lune. There would be no peace in the group if he kept with this attitude. She shook her head in disgust as she knew exactly what he meant about the gods giving him power. She was in the exact position but she knew how to control her feelings.

"Lune I do believe that Nevar is lacking the discpline to have the power that is granted to him. That collar of elven made is not helping him. It seems to only make him more bitter and angry. You know as well as I do that he was never meant for the power. He was not a chosen one as I was."

Lune lifted her head and smiled at Aurora.

"It was not always as such. Before the gods granted Nevar his power, he was very happy..." Lune said then looked back to the fire sad. "...very happy indeed... Nevar... was chosen because he is a creation of the gods. They thought they could control him, Nevar has so much power, he even almost killed all the gods and destroyed Heaven. That is when I used the cuff, disguised myself as a old human wizard and placed it on Nevar. He is the 'Cursed Dragon', meant to wander the world in pain and agany for all eternity... and there is no was to free him nor spare the world if he is released. You are right... that he s not meant to have that power... I would take it away if I could, it would put him at peace... but it is impossible... It took all the gods to give him his power and it will take all the gods together to remove his power... however over the years... Nevar has slain three gods... And thus has formed his own curse... Nevar... he thinks we betrayed him... but... I do not see how..." Lune sighed and stood up and walked away to get some fresh air. She walked to the river outside the village and sat on a rock...

Wren was almost to the village when she saw Lune sitting on a rock by herself. she went over to her and said, "Having more troubles with Nevar? He is a character that is for sure. I still don't get him very well but by the end of this I'm sure we all will have a better understanding of him. Some more than others I'm sure." It was then that she felt that Lune was thinking long and hard about the conversation that had happened just inside more than likely. Ether that or one that had occurred earlier that day. She figured that Lune really didn't care about her or anything she would have to say so she Just walked off.

With that she walked off towards the Inn knowing she probably wouldn't talk to Aurora tonight, at least not till later that night if they found them self’s alone with one another. For all she knew this thought may not be the case at all, she needed another input with this. She trusted Aurora's judgment and she was more likly to understand better than others.

Lune saw Wren come and go, and did not care. She just sat on the rock and sighed. The water in the river... was not calm as it usually was. There were rapids. Lune looked at it. A moment ago it was normal, now strong rapids were there. Lune stood up just as a enormous water serpent demon emerged from the water. Its green scales and blue skin made it look fearsome. It rose into the air and looked down at Lune roaring at her, no demon this strong had come to the village since their arrival. Lune stood there in shock not knowing what to do. The demon roared again and dived it's head at Lune with its jaws opened wide. It was about to eat Lune with a small stream of light went through its neck. It stopped and turned, there was Nevar... he was the last thing it saw before Nevar took off it's head with his claws.

Nevar landed near Lune and flipped her over his shoulder and gathered their things.

"We leave now!" Nevar ordered. "We cannot stay here unless we wish to endanger the Gnomes any further!" Nevar turned and leaped over the river and waited for the others.

Aurora watched as Lune walked off to be by herself. It was sadness that was on the elf's face. She only hoped that one day Nevar would find the peace that he once had. All would be right with the world. Maybe with working with everyone he would learn how to control his emotions and power.

All of a sudden she heard Nevar yell about leaving now. She ran to the Inn and got her stuff and ran into Wren as well.
"It seems that we are leaving now, and Nevar is not in a happy mood? So let's head out."

With that the two elves were soon on the other side of the river waiting also for the others.

Wren ran inside to get the little stuff that she had and walked out with Aurora to the rivers edge and waited. She thought since there was no one else here this would be a good time to ask Aurora a few questions.

"Have you ever read any of the history books that the druids keep? If so have you heard of the 'Sword of the Dragons'? I've read that one once and I thought about what was happening recently, and it seemed so familiar now I know why. Some of the same events are happening that cause the last Great War or well something similar to it. I was just saying because if my assumptions are correct he's looking for his army." She then leaned up against a near by tree and listened to what Aurora had to say about what she said.
