Fairy Tales
I have the Annotated Book of Classic Fairy Tales, which has over 100 fairytales and is highly interesting reading. But what separates this book from the rest is the insight into the authors, but not only the authors, the ethics and sub themes of the tales in general.
It gives the Silent Cartographer (my children’s/humour writing alter ego, lol!) a much more clearer understanding of the stories, but also lets him devour them in much greater detail, lol.
Basically some of the tales from the book are really great reading, and you can see that they have inspired many modern writers. So if I could give fellow authors one word of advice, don’t shun Fairy Tales, in my eyes, they are essential reading for modern writers.

Re: Fairy Tales
i find fairy tales fasinating. they always contain morals. and they are great fun to get children to find and explain them to them. a very important part of bringing up a child that is now neglected.
