United 93 - Maybe the most discussed movie of this year?
Or, as discussed as the Da Vinci Code... I don't know, there have been a lot of talk about it, but we decided (my family) to go watch it yesterday eve to make an own opinion...
And I must say, it is among one of the best movies I've ever seen. Not because of the effects (or maybe because of the small amount of them), but because it isn't "spoiled" by Hollywood... It's a sincere, documentary style, and, in my opinion, one of the greatest ways we could pay our respect to the passengers aboard United 93. Even though they are not shown in the heroic light Hollywood-style, they are shown as people making a choice in a very critical moment.
Go see it, and tell yourself just before it starts, "This really happened"... And I promise you, you won't forget that movie any time soon!

Re: United 93 - Maybe the most discussed movie of this year?
United 93 was a good movie but, Hollywood did ad lib the majority of it. All anyone has to go on is the cell phone coversations and the ****pit and flight recorder. There is no way to tell what really happened in the passenger area as no one there was giving a play by play through the cell phone.
The film is pieced together from the data of those two recorders. Not to make the event less than it was but look at it a bit more realistic. The dialogue is made up as again, no one recorded it, the actions of the passengers are only surmised and should be viewed subjectively.
No doubt a horrible event and the film depicts that very well, but you need to step back from it and think about how anyone knew what happened outside the flight deck.
