Writing: Workshop (Exercise 13)
Writing: Exercise 13 – Rewriting History
In this exercise you have to set about rewriting a piece of famous literacy. Pick a well-known book, which has an equally well-known passage somewhere in it. What you have to do is rewrite a short section of the story leading off that well-known passage.
For example you would start with: “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means…” and then continue the story from that point.
Ensure that you change this story drastically, create something that is not expected.
This Exercise should ideally be over 800 words, and remain below 1000 and cannot be wavered.
