Writing: Workshop (Exercise 12)
Writing: Exercise 12 – Waiting Room of Mystery
Every single one of us has found ourselves in this situation before, thus this exercise should be doable by all. Imagine yourself in a waiting room, be it a doctor/dentist surgery, opticians or even at a job interview. You have people sitting all around you; all you have to do in this exercise is describe several of them. Focus on their looks, hygiene and overall persona.
Try to write as if you don’t know any of the people you see. Maybe even do this exercise several times, for different locations and note the difference in the people you encounter.
This Exercise should ideally be over 200 words, and remain below 1000 (but that can be wavered), and can be undertaken at any time, by anybody who wants to partake, and can be done as many times as you like.
