Need help w/ 429 Caddy

I am helping a friend with his "new" 64 Caddy. What size is the front crankshaft bolt on a Caddy 429?

The 390 c.i. as well as the 429 c.i. appear to utilize the same bolt. Try a 9/16" National Fine thread.

Anybody know anything about the ignition system on these? It's got a new cap, coil & resistor, it's getting power to the coil but it's not firing. As far as I know everything is hooked up right, any suggestions? emoticon

It's a standard points distributor.

Make sure:

that it turns when the motor turns;

That the points open and close;

That the points are clean and properly adjusted;

That the wire from the points to the coils is good. Especially check for a crack in the wires insulation that could be grounding it out between the points and the distributor housing.

That's about all there is to it, good luck!

Thanks, I will check all those things. I will be going to help this guy out in about 3 weeks so maybe we can get this thing running. Thanks a ton.

Awsome GTX BTW, I remember reading the mopar muscle article years ago about how you found the car & always thought it was a cool story & really neat/F.A.S.T. car!
