Re: 4-Speed GTX gettin it!
Thanks for posting that pic, Dave!
After the rain out in VA, I met with Steve Vanderwal at Morrocco Indiana for a test and tune. I'm really glad I did, because I needed some seat time, and to develop a to-do list for winter.
I only made 3 passes, but things were starting to gel a little bit. Steve told me that he thought the car left hard and maybe got some air. I was hoping to back up my 10.92 from the last time out, but just didn't have time to sort things out. Went a best of 11.18 at 127. I was launching at s failrly low RPM due to the cold track surface. The GTX was getting hook off the line, but loosing traction down track. Went a 1.72 60' on all 3 passes. In '06 when I left, that would have been great. In 09, it seems a 1.72 60' is ho-hum.
One of the fun things about running a FAST car is the responses from folks who don't yet know what FAST is all about.
On the second pass, I was lined up against a big tire, open header, big block chevelle race car. Of course he got way out on me off the line, but i blew by him at 1100' with about a 15 mph advantage. The look on his face was priceless.
In the staging lanes, there was a crowd of racers around the car, looking it over, checking out the tires, looking for traction bars, looking for headers, and scatching their heads in disbelief.

I think Joel could have gotten elected mayor of Chicago that day he has many close freinds and fans from there now.I never saw anyone get swamped by the crowd like that since Dave broke the FAST ecord last year at Musclepaloza. He had to open the hood twice to make them all happy.Look out obama chicago has a new favorite man .
